am wonderig about slann in 7th and 8th edi can change lore ingame or can it only have one lore for the whole match?
When a Slann takes High Magic as their lore, they may (per the Lore Attribute), at the end of the magic phase, swap one spell that they successfully cast for a "normally" generated spell from one of the eight lores of magic in the rule book.
a friend of mine, changed his lore on his slann every turn in 7edi and he said he could do the same in 8edi also. is that true?
That is correct, you can still chose a different lore than High Magic, but we only get loremaster in High Magic now(Except on one special character). Meaning that your friend will need to roll to see what spells he would get if he chose Life for example.
Generally speaking, a wizard of any description picks 1 spell lore when their army list is created, and rolls their spells from that lore at the beginning of the game. These spells are kept for the duration of the game. There are 2 things on a slaan that can change this: 1. The telepathic-something-or-other rule that allows 2 slaan to swap spells. Which will not generally come into play unless your doing a huge game as it requires 2 slaan. 2. The Lizardman High magic lore attribute which allows you to swap out high magic spells you have cast during a magic phase for another spell (select a lore and roll on the table as if you were generating it at the beginning of the game) at the end of that magic phase. Hope that helps.
Was that the same in 7th edi also. if so then he has been play LM really wrong. but this has been really good to learn. now i can tell him that, next time we play.
I assume you meant game, not turn. If so that is fine, if it was actually every turn in a game, then he was misinterpreting the rules.
in 7th you picked 1 lore at the beginning of the game...THE END..no changing. in 8th you pick 1 lore at the beginning of the game..THE END... but if you picked "High Magic" , the lore attribute makes you swap the spell you cast for a random spell in a lore of your choice...thats 1! spell. I have no idea how he got the impression that he could swap all spells every turn.
And one more thing. was slann a Loremaster in 7th Edi? I dont think slann was a loremaster in 7th edi, becouse it never said anything about in the 7th edi book at all. so then my friend has play slann very wrong from day one. this is a great way to find out things about other rases. i myself plays Ogre Kingdom, Vamps, High Elves. and my friend is playing O&G, Dark Elves, Lizardmen.
We all do. Once upon a time we could take Slann loremasters, Arcane configuration did something if you had multiples, and kroxigors could use Skinks as shields. Let us all have a minute silence and remember the old book. *I don't actually mind the new book but I miss some things
I'm sure my opponents won't miss my Slann with Loremaster Light, an extra dice on every spell cast, Ethereal, taking the enemy's 6s away, and the ability to throw a miscast at an enemy. Wow, I guess I never said it out loud...
