slann modeling

JB Weld or some other epoxy makes a really strong bond for the metal models. I assembled mine with regular super glue and have had no problems though.

If it's the metal one, I'd recommend pinning it first. Glue alone is too brittle IMO.

Has enyone ever objected to a slann glued to his base? I dont really trust the plastic holders haha

I don't know if anyone would object to a Slann directly on the base (you'd just be hurting yourself by limiting line of sight), but it would certainly look odd.

A lot of people have built up features on the base and attached the Slann to that. The best looking ones model a tree (with a metal/wire frame) that attaches securely to the Slann's platform. I've also seen good looking bases with piles of stones or even skulls to hold the Slann. Mounting it this way holds the model more securely than the flying stand and still gives the illusion that the Slann is floating.

Look through the modeling & painting part of the forum - you'll find plenty of good examples.

My slans flying rod thing kep breaking, so one day I got sick of re glueing him,
and replacd the plastic rod with a nail.... It's not going to break any more. :smug:

Right. A flat-head nail is perfect as a substitute for the plastic stand. Provides a broad enough surface to glue on the base, and is plenty strong.

Oh actualy I drilled a hole though the base and stuck mine up through the bottom...
(Yea complete over kill)
I was missing the flying base, I only had a clear rod for that slann.

mine is exactly the same (never broken) although I did have the round flying base I didn't use it as I was new to the hobby and didn't realise I could stick that to the square base lol.
