Hello, all. I'm relatively new to Lizardmen, and have a couple of questions regarding the Slann. First off, when he suffers a miscast, does his ward save protect him? Twice during a recent game, I miscast and then rolled boxcars for Power Drain. Could the Slann have attempted his ward save to protect him from the consequences? Second, as a result of the two Power Drain rolls I just mentioned, I lost four levels (making my Slann a Level 0 wizard). Can he still cast spells at that level? Finally, I've been reading some of the posts regarding miscasts, and I've seen references to the Book of Ashur. I can't seem to find that anywhere...can someone point me in the right direction? Many thanks, Brent
The ward save will only save against wounds caused by miscasts, not other effects. As for the levels, when he becomes level 0 then he cant cast his spells. Isn't it D3 levels lost though? If that was the case your slann, at the worst roll, should have been level 1 instead of 0. A level 1 can still cast spells. The book of Ashur is a part of the common magic items in the Big Red Rulebook. It gives the wizard both +1 to cast and dispel. I dont remember the point cost but its pretty high.
Thanks for the info, Lizard sNow. I miscast two turns in row, rolling boxcars on the miscast table both times. If only I could roll so high when I wanted to! Thanks again, Brent
While on the same topic of Slann questions, I got back into Fantasy after Lizardmen got their 8th ed book and want to be clear that the Slann is not required to be in Temple guard units now? I hope that is true because it is one of my biggest pet peeves of 7th.
Thank you sir. Im pretty excited to run him solo btw. Somehow I managed to do more damage to my temple guard every game than the enemy. Ill try a solo build with and without Higher state of consciousness.
