What has been your experience with a Bunker Slann being sniped by magic, such as with the Lore of Death, or spells that hit everyone in the unit, such as The Dwellers Below?

It's never been a problem for me, but I'm wondering what the community at large has experienced. The Obsidian Amulet has intrigued me, effectively giving our Slann a 2+ against magic, but I've not taken the plunge, since sniping hasn't been an issue.

Those of you who run Solo Slann, is it something that you take?

for solo slanns it may be good because you will see one or two magic misiles in your way, but when you are in bunker and those big nastys are casted at you MR has no efect because GW made a super cool magic saying nor saves of any kind alowed, just wow how stupid you have to be to make such rules... :) imho ward and MR should and have to work againts every spell....

I occasionally face a lore of death HE caster. Becalming takes care of that mostly. Purple sun is my biggest fear and I take Lore of light with that in mind.

Lore of deaths sniper spells shouldnt be problem. take MR2 item (= 2+ ward )

against DFB, cant really give any advices. Here in Finland in friendly games & tournament games we have usually house rules that allow Look Out Sir! rolls for characters against yber spells (Final Transmutation, Dwellers etc.)

I don't know if it counts as "sniping" but beastmen have "stone of spite".
It makes all arcane items explode in 18" and never be used again. (friend & foe)
    D6 str 4 hits for it's bearers.
Even if the slann makes all its saves , it's goodbye for cupped hands and the likes.

I'm a big fan of the Divine Plaque for a lone Slann, and the Obsidian if I'm with the Temple Guard. The unit gets more of a benefit with the MR, and the Plaque protects against many spells and Jezzails, etc. if I'm not getting a LOS roll.

I haven't gotten blown up with the Stone of Spite yet, but I'd imagine it's prudent to keep a dispel dice or two back once their characters get in range of that thing. It's hard to say if the Plaque would help, since it's your own item exploding- not necessarily a ranged attack.
