Friday I have a game against HE. This is a friendly game and I am going to try something different. I am taking a etheral slann with lore of beasts and Tehehuian. The plan is ensure that Tehehuian has the transformation of Kadon spell and try to get it off one turn.

I will also have a skink chief with the war spear on a stegadon. I have been wanting to try this for a while and think it will be fun (win or lose). I will try to post exactly what I will be taking tonight or tomorrow.

Sorry was unaware of the special character Tehehuian using lore of beasts.

    So sweet go for it!

You know that there can't be two same spells at the same moment on two different mages? It is clearly stated that if every spell possible is used by earlier mages ( of the same player ), than mages that choose they spells later must discard them and can use only "zero lev" spell? It means that you can't have lore mastery on your slann and you will also need a lot of luck to get transform on Tehehuian.

Or am I wrong with my interpretation of this rules o_O ?

I thought that the slann gets his 4 spells. Then I roll for the spells for Tehehuain. If those two rolls are duplicates, I can choose which spells he takes. Seeing that the slann cannot have the kadon spell, then Tehehuain should be able to use it.

I believe that is how it works. I could be wrong.

Unless either one or both of the mages is a "Lore master"

Or buys his spells or an item that allows him to cheese his spells, or in some other way has no choise of what spells he knows.

Oh the slaan can have it he just can't use it, that's why you swap it out for the signature if it comes up on him.

If Tehehuian can take other magic items you should also take the Plaque of Topek (15 points to know 1 more spell will give you a better chance of rolling the #6 spell for him)

Special Characters not allowed in our league and frowned upon in pick up games at my local, so have never played with them and don't know what kind of restrictions they have.

Plaque of Topek either way is a nice pick up for you Slann for 15 points if you want to save the 50pts on disciplines.

Special characters like Tehenhauin can't take any magic items other than the ones they come with. however...

Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but between a level four Slann with the Plaque of Tepok, and level two Tehenhauin, I don't think there's any way to not get the transformation spell on the skink if you roll up the Slann first.

If the Slann rolls any 6's, switch one for signature and swap the rest. If he doesn't, great. Since five spells have been rolled, either Tehenhauin will roll a 6 or roll a duplicate of something (which you can trade for #6)- either way, he's got Transformation if the Slann doesn't.

Without the plaque, it's still likely that you'll be able to do it, just not 100% guaranteed.

But if you roll two 6 on choosing spell, then slann must have transformation ( you are changing one 6 into "zero" spell and then you still have lone 6 )

Erm no, when you roll a double then you get a 6 and you pick another spell, so you just need to pick the other spell first and then swap the transformation for number one. This is even applicable if you roll all 6s.

This! I am not taking the plaque of tepok though. I still feel very good about my chances (famous last words).
