I tried a Slann out with a skink heavy list and the lore of metal last night, it was the bomb! now i was against dwarves, does anyone else know if it's a good general lore?

Its going to be best against heavily armoured and low number armies. Vey nice against Brets, Dwarfs, Chaos but not so useful against the likes of elves, ogres, undead. Against any army it will be good to take down their heavy cavalry and possibly chariots or hardest hitting unit, but usually not the best lore.

Still, if it worked well for you and you enjoyed using it, give it a few more tries.

I do see some good potential for the metal lore. Works wonders against really pesky 1+ save units.

Yeah lore of metal can be good for games where you know your opponent. But almost useless in tournaments. Also I feel a bit bad picking lore of metal when I know my buddy is playing a 50% heavy calvary empire army.

I went 5-0 at the LoneWolf GT in dallas last year using a Metal Slann. The Metal lore has it all.
    6. Final Transmutaiton is an effective bunker buster and is the same against all armies. Dwellers does poorly against high strength.
    5. Lead, a -1 to ws, bs and armor saves is always a welcome event. might not raise the score they need to hit you but can make you saurus and Krox hit on 3's
    4. Golden hounds, a character killer, the Look out sirs can make it a unit killer. no armor saves ( Cast it on a Bretonian Damsel whoi LOSed onto Grail Knights) Great stuff on anyone by them selves
    3. Robe, hand out the scaley skin to your skinks, the SKROX unit now has a 4+ save and a parry to the front.
    2. Blades, +1 to hit, magical attacks and armor piercing, what is not to love, use with lead to hit on 2's, have a wraith problem, no problem
    1. lowers armor save, what more needs to be said steam tanks< etc.
    X. doom D6 or 2 D6 hits with no armor save

The spells are good. but the lore ability of wounding on the armor save is bad enough to turn folks against it. It can be seen as a self comping pick to use metal. I will say that Focus of Mystery is required. That way you can pick the spells needed. I would hate to be facing demons with only the DOOM available. The funny part is when the chaos or Brett player askes which lore and then gets all sad. Against wood elves, the blades ruined his plan to fight using the dryads. VC wraiths run froma Skrox unit with blades.

    Hello,
I like Metal Slann, if you can combo him with Razordons (+1 to hit for them and AP) they start to be as defestating as Salamanders!!.
Not to mention that you have a counter for Heavy Troops and Cav.
Too bad that the Scaly skin spell dosen't improve our scaly skin:(

That sounds silly.... Sallies and razors are the same points, why bother trying to get combo spells with them to make them as devastating as the salamanders already are without any magic help?

I'm gonna try him out tomo in my LGS. most likely to play WoC, DEs or beastmen. Hope to see how he does against them (although he'll wreck the WoC!)

I'm currently running double slann one metal one death the metal is fantastic for dealing with the heavy armour + the magical attacks from blades is great too.

It depends on your local areas meta but in the UK cav buses are running riot so its very useful lore.

However don't get it just for searing doom, if they have a cav bus they will save all their dice for it and you wont get it off. But there are other spells in the deck to deal with buses so focus on pushing lots of spells through with rumination: -1 armour save, armour piercing is a great combo if they throw at searing doom.

Yup, Plague of Rust + Transmutation of Lead and now Shot them with enchanted razordons:)
And the Good thing about Metal is that you need 2 Spells(one is a signature:), so If you play for example a 1500 Game you only need 1 Disicpline, and exchange the other for Cupped hands. When you take Shadow/Life/Light/Death you need more spells and you should take either Mystery or Plaque of Tepok:)
