Question before I get into the tactic (so I know if it'll work) Can a slann teleport out of a TG unit using Smoke and Mirrors attribute of the Shadow lore?

I'm looking at options for offensive TG blocks at the moment, as well as "non-Life" slann.

Slann can never leave the TG, I'm pretty sure. Now, if you have 2 units of TG, this may be viable, as the Slann must be with a TG unit.

Thanks, that was what I thought. Was trying to essentially find a way to remove the slann from the blocks so he could cast the pendulum etc. and to avoid nuking the TG if he miscasts (teleport out throwing the base spell, open up with a couple of others, then teleport back in at the end of the phase)

Back to the drawing board I guess...

The wizard can swap places with a character of the same troop type. So I'm not sure how useful it is going to be, you are just going to endanger another unit. Then you have to rely on your final spell working successfully to get you back in place.

army book pg. 47 Each slann mage-priest must join a unit of temple guard when both are present in the same army...the slann cannot leave this unit.

I don't think you could even switch to another TG unit based on these rules.

But it also says that you can only have a one slann in one group of TG so can you one grouped and one solo?

From what I know, you can have one in a unit of TG and one not, but if you had two TG units then the second slann would have to join them.

If there's a unit of Temple Guard that doesn't have a Slann in it, and you have a Slann that doesn't have a unit of Temple Guard, then you have to put them together. If you only have one of these factors or none, then the Slann/TG can ride solo. ;)

So you could have a slann run solo and one in a group starting with a death slann in a group shadow on the solo. Fly the solo 18 inches down to the flank of your enemy swap with the death slann then cast purple sun right down the lines. Or any combination on a shadow hex and a death test then do the opposite next turn. That would be pretty interesting to see. Considering death and shadow have the most synergy.

Does smoke and mirrors let you switch models with the same bases size right???

if so then you could swap a solo Slan with the Old Blood on he Carasaur. :D
