Just read this in a battle report against Bretts:-

'Overall your mistake was having your flankers too far out too get to the action - the Brets are very fast and knights only work when they charge, so your strategy should be based around them coming to you and you "counter-punching" when they do. Harder to do in 8th, as baiting and re-directing is not as automatic as it was in all previous editions (at least going back to 4th edition, when I started). In fact, this is something that we, as a forum, should really discuss in depth, because with our cheap skink screens, if any army relies upon this tactic, it's the Lizardmen!'

I couldn't agree more, I used to use this sort of tactic all of the time in 7th edition and you couldn't beat the feeling of springing a really well laid trap. I've really struggled to replicate this in the 8th edition and am not sure whether it's just me and my interpretation of the skirmisher rules or whether this sort of tactic, whereby charging units are drawn out of position due to the formation of the skirmishing unit they have engaged, is even possible anymore. Does anyone have any advice or should I forget about it and move on.

Thanks for both videos, yours is great to put it in a cold blooded context.

I'm a little confused however with regards to your jungle swarm example though. Can't the enemy unit just charge in your flank (I've got the phrase 'mostly in your front' going in my head but would like it explained so I can justify it to my opponent!)

    Thanks in advance

My, my. Some lovely tactics being discussed here. ;)

One of the main strengths of the lizardmen list is the cheap chaff/skirmishers/redirectors they have.

In regards to the jungle swarm, you never choose which arc to charge into. Its dictated by the amount of models in each arc.
