Hi everyone. I used to, about 5 years ago play a Hordes of Chaos army, and then at the beggining of last year i got back into the hobby through a Beasts of Chaos army. However, while i am thoroughly enjoying this army, it isnl;t brilliant in the gaming aspect. Yesterday i won a new Lizardmen army book and a box of Sauruses. So have decided to start a Lizardman army (Morally the opposite of my previous armies) and i have a few questions. 1. Do all Lizardmen have to be blue, i know its my army and i can paint it how i want but all ones depicted in the book are blue. If they have, background wise, to be blue then i shall be sad and miss the fact that chaos armies can have almost any colour scheme you can imagine. 2. What makes up a good 500 point army? i was thinking along the lines of Sauruses, Skins, Skin Priest and some Terradon Riders, thiugh i haven;lt made a list yet. 3. How the hell do i justify them fighting most armies, alright deamons can come out of no where and De live close by, but surely their aren;t that many norse at Skeggi, Vampires on Coast thingy, and Raids by Empire and Brets can't be that regular.
1. Lizardmen can have any scheme you like, the blue is only GW's own choise. 2. Hasn't the new book, but in 6th edition, I often used a scar vet on a cold one, 2 units of 10 skinks(skirmishes as that was the only option) and a few kroxies. My scar-vet took up chalenges and gave the other units high ld. one unit of skinks became a screen for the kroxies for them to charge through, and the other skinks I used as a harrazment unit to pick apart the flank of the enemy, and hopefully lure my opponent into a chargetrap from my kroxies. I seldom fight less than 2000pts, but think I won my last match vs Chaos... 3. You know there is an ancient way from Lustria who leads to Albion, the mystrious Island outside the old world.. There is a communication line between Lord Mazdamundi and the other Slanns in Hexotl to Albion. If I recall correct, ther is some sort of fluff in the old book(6th edit.) about Kroq-Gar using this way to reclain some sort of ancient artifact.. From Albion, there is short way to most other armystrongholds so that can explain fighting WE, O&G and other remote armies
1. I'm painting mine green 2. see answer above 3. dunno - the book probably sheds light on this but I generally dont need an excuse for a battle heh
my lizzies are going for a desert theme, so paint what you like imo but afaik, blue is the _official_ GW sanctioned color for lizzies i.e. years ago they had a major blue paint surplus and needed a way to get rid of it
Cheers, im going to paint mine green as well i think. sort of seems the right colour to me, Though i think red ones could look good, but you get bored of painting red after 2 Chaos armies (Khorne HoC, and Undivided Beasts but still plenty of red). I'll get some pictures up when i find the lead that connects camera to computor
Don't forget our hatred for skaven. If anyone questions your battle simply state "The old ones will it." It's good to have a reason to scrap with anyone.
In the latest WD in the painting lizardmen guide it does say that lizardmen are blue, and for variation they use different shades from aqua to an almost black. But really, copy any real lizard and they will probably look sweet, they could potentially be any colour for many reasons. Small tribe that has broken off from the rest and evolved differently, warpaint etc.
The new Lizardmen fluff has ALOT of reasons to wage war against other armies. After the Siege of Hexoatl by the dreadful Vashnaar the Tormentor, Lord Mazdammundi declared that the Lizardmen march to War! Chaos has risen again, and the world is so lost from it's rightful place, the great Slann declared all research of the Great Plan will cease until Chaos has been completely and utterly obliterated from this earth. The Elves will be repelled back to Ulthuan, the Men returned to grow in the Old World, and the Dwarves will never again leave the World Edge Mountains. This is how the Old Ones deemed the fate of the world, and so it is our destiny and duty to fulfill it!
Well i have already done 2 test models, both green. Here they are: Unfortunatly my camera isnlt very good. these are the best pics of the lot.
Try putting a white sheet of paper under them, provide a light from above and from one side and your camera flash should give a nice front light, more of your pictures will turn out and they will look much better.
My saurus are red with black and white scales when painting them i forgot that they were my high school colors (very annoying) but as i was saying use whatever colors you want and as for reasons to fight armies they are the first and they know the old ones plans nobody else does and they are not playing their parts and need to be set straight preferrably by force
Looks pretty reptile to me, looks like a dk angels with maybe snot green scales, the shield looks grey and I have never seen them like that so cool.
Thats looking alot better. The white behind it helps alot. The shots are still blurry, here are a few things you can do if you arnt already. Are you trying to hold the camera with your hands? Rest the camera on something if you dont have a tripod rather than holding it. A box? Still blurry? Perhaps your camera cant focus on something that close Buy a Macro lense! ok ok... too expensive, forget i said that... Move the camra back till it can focus on your models. They will be smaller but they will be crisp and clear. There are a few other tricks on letting in more light but we will leave them out for now!
I have started to paint my lizardmen the standard blue, but I have recently felt the need to do them green with red scales and warpaint. I really want to use this scheme, but dont want to lose my models. Is therer anything I can do to remedy this?
In my hobby store we have LM players who have green, pink, and purple as their paint schemes, so I'm probably going to go with the standard blue, or some sort of black/gray combo(leaning towards the latter)to keep everything nice and different than theirs. I'll post pictures when I get some done, so I can get some repsonses.
in answer to question 3, i think most people hav covered it , notably by Dalkarius. They also live in the southlands so can invade the old world from there (you never know maybe slanns can teleport ) not sure what colour scheme im doing (my army is based in the Spine of Sotekl, mountain range), but im not sure whether those mountains would be volcanic or not ???
Is there a way to remove paint from a model? My old lizardmen were paited ;amely, and i want to change them.
There are several ways, and different people seem to have different degrees of success with each. Brake fluid usually works well as a soak, but can weaken or destroy super glue bonds. I think it might react with plastic models too, so use it carefully there. Dettol is a good one, it requires a reasonable amount of scrubbing with an old toothbrush or whatever but it works safely on both plastic and metal. If you can get your hands on some IPA (isopropyl alcohol, cleaning alcohol) it works very well, has the potential again to weaken superglue bonds but has worked best for me. Acetone would be about the same. A white spirit like vodka would do it, but its pretty expensive and much better to drink so I wouldn't recommend it. There are lots of ways you can try, do a bit of a google search.
