...or at least it did for my army. Been involved in an End Times inspired fantasy slow grow painting up me (mostly) 5th edition lizardmen models from the mid 90's. On the way to the monthly tournament games I foolishly managed to leave a box contains most of my army on top of the car - I raced back but was too late. 100+ car tires had managed to turn all the miniatures into unrecognisable lumps of lead and paint. I'm pretty devastated, though I'm going to try to rebuild though. The hard part is going to match up parts/models from units were only part of the unit was destroyed. Is anyone willing to sell me: Old metal Saurus command Plastic Blot toads New Plastic Carnosaur rider Old metal javelin skinks? Help me rebuild an army I've been working on 20+ years
Oh shit! I did that once en route to a job interview with a bag with all my original copies of degrees, pasport etc. Fortunately someone noticed and stopped in front of my car before it fell off. Can totally imagine how bad you must feel now. But depending where you live I may be able to help out with the Old metal Saurus command and I probably also have a spare metal skink chief/champ with javelins. But not 100% sure, need to check some boxes first. I do have some other old 4th-5th ed. models for sale, but they are not on your list.
When I am back in my home town I can check one of the local stores. They have some of the older stuff available still, I will see what I can dig up!
I have a a dozen or two saurus warriors (plastic) and about as many skinks (plastic with bows) from that edition I believe. Most have a base coat, and some have a wash done on them but that is all the further finished they are. Send me a message if you need any of that and we can figure something out. I also have a couple odds/ends/bits I would be willing to throw in too.
I am wholeheartedly and truly sorry for your loss! Just by imagining the scenario I can physically feel what im guessing is just a fragment of your hurt! While I don't have anything to sell you, I have some advice - clean of all the paint, as you will undoubtedly be forced to repaint anyway. - For small bitz that dont have enough surface for glue to stick: use greystuff. - - while at the greystuff: think in conversion opportunities. How tragic this may be, now is a perfect chance to make your army further unique. I really feel like helping, but im afraid I cant do much but being that irritating guy with all the "SUPER GREAT IDEAS!".
This makes me so sad, but I am very impressed with your pro-active attitude. I have an old metal Saurus command that I'd be willing to part with. Btw what were the 'old metal javelin skinks'?? Did these ever exist?
I feel so bad for you. l know I'd be heartbroken in your situation; admittedly you have a much better and more proactive attitude than I would. I'm sure you'll have your army back up in tip top shape quickly. Unfortunately, I have none of the items you are looking for, but if I come across any I will let you know. Best of luck in resurrecting your army.
Yeah thee isn't much chance to strip and rescue many of these models - most were ground into the ashphalt. And yes, Javelin skinks used to come in metal. This is in the 5th edition times which predates the current 6th edition box set. What I need most is three blot toads. My rippers survived the event but the toads didn't, making them annoyingly useless. Surely someone who built the box as a teradon option has some spare?
http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Toad/price It is possible to order Toads individually from Reaper directly. There are two or three that might serve (unless you are determined to have a pure GW army).
Ebay is another option for the Bloat Toads... http://www.ebay.ca/itm/WARHAMMER-BI...557?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e8cf0031d http://www.ebay.ca/itm/WFB-Lizardme...804?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ed6503aec
It looks like mostly the Saurus just lost their heads... Might be a fun chance to convert them with new heads, (never mind I looked closer many are missing arms and feet as well) even more surprisingly most of the skinks look intact if a bit bent, looks like you just have to rebase them.
That's for the advice guys, but the damage is worse when looking close up, most of them have been ground into the the road surface and have lost all details. A handful might be repairable with green stuff and time but most would be easier to buy the old miniatures from somewhere and start fresh The red bull is an Oop Chaos Dwarf Bull Taurus who was in the wrong box at the wrong time. Thanks for the link to the blot toad bitz seller - hopefully I can find a cheaper source as that site is expensive with $10 for a tiny toad!
