    Hello people.

So as the title suggests I wonder about dark elfs, talked with a guy at my gaming group who was starting an army of (guess what) dark elfs.

so we started to compare stuff of course. :smug:

we came across this unit character thing that had weapons ignoring scaly skin, making my poor lizzie's useless. :depressed:

Didn't catch what it was tho, unit or character?

depending on the type of this thing I can shoot it down with skinks(?) or just charge with some skinks and tar pit it the whole game.

But to come to something else then this lizzie killer I thought to get some advice from experienced players that has played dark elfs, I have'n't ever played against any elfs, not even with my Wood elfs! :jawdrop:

    Thanks for your advice.

Dark elves are nasty little buggers. The ignore scaly skin thing was almost certainly a special character, and you won't really see it unless he is tailoring his army against you and you allow special characters to come in.

Something you really have to watch out for is the cauldron of blood. He can use it to give his troops some nasty abilities like killing blow, which combines well with the dark elf hatred rerolls to hit. If you can survive the first round of combat you will usually do well, but the trick can be getting to that point. Our infantry is str 4 and 2 attacks, so you will likely put a good hurt on him with counterattacks them being pansy elves.

If you go for the Oldblood, you might enjoy the Blade of Realities. I think I remember the hydra has pretty low leadership, so you can easily insta-kill them with failed Ld tests. Some dark elves enjoy lots of fast cav, so pack your razordons. They'll probably employ a few repeater bolt throwers, so terradons might be a good idea to quickly take those out.

Might be a few chariots as well, and you can definitely expect some flying stuff.

Actually, the "ignores scaly skin" ability is attached to a 35 pt. magic weapon called "Caledor's Bane." It's weildable by a combat lord or hero. Against any army other than Lizzies, it's a weapon for character hunting, or rather for hunting a character's dragon. So I'll agree that the character weilding the weapon will probably be tailored to fighting Lizzies if he's weilding it (and thus unlikely to be seen in tournaments unless the possibility for dragon riding lords is high), but it's still a possibility.

I don't have much experience against Dark Elves, so I can't give you much in the way of concrete info outside of what's theoretically able to be made.

Remember tha is just the add to your save by scaley skin, so you will still get armor shield and magic items bonus. I remember empite having a sword that does the same thing?

yes empire have a sword called dragon slayer or something.

but, if Dark elfs also only got one sword with this effect it's no worries.

I'm also thinking of a saurus oriented army with old bloods and scar-vets, and some skinks priests for magic.
    but on EoTG ofc.

But, I'm not a fan of skinks unless it involves something liek terradons and stegadons and ofc razordons and sallies. :meh:

So saurus cav for flank coverage?

and some temple guard with chakax in?

and a LOT of saurus warriors.

    What about that?
