So I was on GW'S website when I found this: Thoughts? Are they just getting rid of the single model because for the same price you can get one plus some Warriors and Knights in the SC Box? Or maybe a new sculpt? I don't think the last seeing how newish the sculpt all ready is.
I think it's because you can literally get the same model, plus cavalry and infantry, for the same price with the Start Collecting box.
Yeah, they'll probably have to update all the pages. Think of it this way; A few years ago the Lizardmen Battalion contained the same Saurus units but came with Skinks. After you purchase one or two of those you'll have plenty of cavalry models, so the likely move is to just purchase individual Skink and Saurus boxes. I imagine GW had several of the Battalion boxes lying around, not moving. Fast forward to today, the Carnosaur is the most impressive sculpt in the LM army and is probably still selling very well. GW has already sat on the Saurus sculpts for a few years and is wanting to thin out their warehouse a little. With the move to AoS they've likely already written off anything associated with Warhammer Fantasy as a loss to the company, so the extra Saurus are literally free inventory in this fiscal year. So they go through and package them with the Carnosaur, a sculpt that's selling well, and voila! That's my thoughts anyway. I was considering getting two lone Carni's but the Start Collecting box was so tempting cause of all the extra plastics. Looks like they helped make that decision for me! Although I'll have my friendly local gaming store make the order for me so I can still buy it at a discount
It could be one of the four: 1.- Is an error. 2.- Maybe is just a price reduction. £50 for a single Carnosaur is almost pointless with the SC! kit with everything else for free. 3.- A new Seraphon Battletome is on the way (and we could expect to see one or two reboxes). 4.- Improbable, but it would be awesome to see an Arcanodon upgrade sprue. Or a howdah full of skinks.
But if they do that they won't sell as many SC boxes, GW wants you to buy as many models as possible for the knock on effect, the more models you have the more paint you need blah blah blah (not saying we all have GW paints) I spoke with one of the GW staff at warhammer world and he was being put in charge of the paint development and he told me GW make the biggest margins on the paints.
