Hey guys my plan for speed painting my lizardmen skin and scales so far is: 1. Prime with Army Painter Crystal Blue. 2. Basecoat the skin with Hawk Turquoise. 3. Wash the skin and scales with Asurmen Blue. 4. Drybrush the skin with Hawk Turquoise. 5. Selectively Drybrush the skin with Ice Blue. What do you think of my palette/plan? Cheers!
tbh thats isnt really speed painting. i dont know the exact shade of TAP crystal blue, but is you wanna be speedy, do something like: spray drybrush with ice blue wash (possibly a light drybrush) i am sure your technique will look beautiful, but i wouldnt call it speed painting, especially not if you bother with a colored primer, but then just paint it over with a basecoat. the colored primer doesnt save you any time at all then
I'd agree slightly with what has been said before, it's not quite speed painting, BUT it sounds cool none the less. If you find it works and you don't mind doing it over and over for each model then it's good to go. Personally I'd consider speed painting to be; Spray (base colour)> Wash (shadows)> Dry brush (high lights). That would give you "3" colours for the main body of the minature. But I like what you have suggested, I think it would work but if you really want to go for all out speed there are always corners you can cut.
