Hi,
Do these guys have swithride rule? on charge 3d6 discard the smallest?
Some how i though they have it
 
believe so, as to cold one calvery. and posibly salamanders.
 
I have never played the stegadon with it. Carnosaur makes sense. Is that stated in their profile in the rulebook?
 
slamandar yes as it is warbeast and in warbeast section theres written that they do have that special rule, but in monster section there is not...
 
Monsters dont have swiftstride. Both of those are monsters so unfortunately no. I thought they did as well and got bummed when I read the rules.
 
Oh I was thinking anything calvery speed had swiftstride..?
 
dam it... now they go even more down in my book.

I knew the Sally and Razordon had swift stride. I wish the stegadon did. That would make charges much more fun.
 
As others have noted, no swiftstride for steggies or carnies. While sallies and razordons do get it, the rule that grants them this is the monstrous beasts rules on page 85. Of note, the BRB classifies them as warbeasts in the summaries at the back but the FAQ overrides this by indicating that they are Monsters & Handlers. Due to their size, they are monstrous beasts, not monsters. The difference is huge since MB get stomp whereas WB can themselves be stomped.

My reading of the FAQ/Amendment was that sallies were treated as monsters for only the Monsters and handlers rule but remained as war beasts for other rules.
 
BEEGfrog - I thought the same thing for the first six months of so of 8th edition until I re-read the FAQ.The FAQ says,

Page 56 – Salamander Hunting Packs, Special Rules
Add “Monster & Handlers”.

A similar entry is there for razordons. Based on this, they are M&H.

Just take a look at the entry below the one you're referring to and you'll find that BEEGfrog has it right.
 
“Salamanders are treated as
Monsters for the purposes of the Monster & Handlers rule.
The unit may not be joined by characters.”

This part of the FAQ, if interpreted literally as it is written, could result in sallies & razordons being Monsters (a specific unit type) instead of war beasts, thus causing them to lose swiftstride and gain thunderstomp rather than being subject to it!! However,, the 3rd para of the rules for sallies and razors then state that they are not classed as Monsters. Almost everywhere I have been they are treated as MB and not WB since they are on a 40mm base (the size for MB) but I can definitely see where the WB unit type would be appropriate.

Certainly an interesting discussion and the rules GW has written don't help clarify the matter as they can be easily interpreted a number of ways :D
 
I'm the opposite. I have never played them other than as WB. As much as I would love to get a stomp (and have them immue to stomp), I think it makes more sense for them to be war beasts.
 
Which means you can place those sallies in a building and have fun burning the enemy in every direction. Stick your ld 10 gen/BSB slann right beside the building and they aren't going anywhere (steadfast in building with rerollable 10 with coldblooded). Best thing is when the enemy fails to dislodge them from the building, they move back 1" meaning you can flame them on your turn with the sallies. Very nasty.
