Updated lists Below Greetings fellow gamers I've decided to take up Warhammer again (I haven't played since 5th ed) und felt that I needed a change from my usual dwarf army. Starting out with 400 pts and working my way up to a 1000. I also got my hands on the Lizzie starter box and am trying to make some use of those models PS. Only got the German Codex in front of me so excuse the inevitable translation errors Hero Saurus Vet w/ Halberd, shield and some magical armor called 'armor of scales' Troops 17 Saurus w/ Spears, musician and standard (no champ) 16 Skinks w/ 2 Kroxigors 10 Skink Skirmischers Elite 5 Coc Stegadon So that will come to 1009 pts. What this list is missing is a skink shammy. I don't have a good grasp of the magic system yet so I can't see the value yet for a lev 2 shammy. The 10 skirmischers could be replaced with 5 chameleon skinks but that makes them extremely fragile. I'll be playing primarily against Chaos and DEs thanks for the input Carnivorous out
Well since 5th ed there have been a few changes (funny old thing) Well some pointers from playing against lizards at low points and with the new rules. Cold one Cav (CoC) have been seriously nerfed (along side all cav) and now unless you flank into a already current combat, you will just get smashed due to steadfast. You deffinately need a Skink Priest. Even at 1000pts. As you now get 2d6 PD. and give him lvl two and plaque of extra spell you have a high chance of getting some awesome spells. Your Scar-Vet needs his wargear changed. One I think you mean Glittering scale armour which is just a pants idea for the cost in 1000pts. Burning Blade of Chotec is a great killing weapon. And with LA, SS and Shield your Scar vet which I assume is in your Saurus unit, he will not need tons of points in magic equip. and will keep his points low. (25% can only be spent on heroes) Your core looks alright however in low point games, Saurus butcher nearly everything. Your Skrox will do some damage but Kroxigors are seriuosly low powered for their points cost. I would recommend another unit of Saurus and some more skink skirmishers for that added missle power. And the case of the stegadon. Most armys have some War machine of some type in 1000pts and if it is a cannon, well wish good bye to your steggy. But eh more fire power at that unit will mean more saurus getting to the foe to eat them. Hope it helps, Lloyd
Well after sifting through peoples' wisdom on this forum, I've come up with the following: Skink Shammy - lev 2 - Plaque of Tepok 15 Saurus w/FC 15 Saurus w/FC 5 COC Stegadon 7 Chameleon Skinks ===999 pts. I first had 20 Saurus but no room for another unit of Saurus and only taking skinks cohorts or skirmishers as a second troop choice wasn't convincing. Since the latter is only there to harass, redirect, it effectively only leaves me with 'one' troop choice. Two troops of 15 may not be as steadfast but gives me valuable redundancy. The COC came in the starter box and will take the role of harassers. The Stegadon and Chameleon skinks need no mention here. The only thing I still am not completely sure is that I chose a shammy as a General and dropped my Scar vet. Still, I just have a good feeling about this list. What do you think?
Try to find 10pts for a rod of storm on the Skink priest rather than tepok or if you want both. There is nothing worse than having your prist sit and do nothing for an entire game because you rolled 3 bad spells.
At 1k pts, I would take only 20 Saurus in one unit and drop the remaining 10. This frees up enough pts to get a Scar-Vet in your unit and have him as the general. Alternatively, you could take a unit of 24 or 25 saurus and get some more Chameleons.
Ok, how about this one: Skink Shammy (general) - lev 2, Rod of Thunder [lots of folks take this one even though it's a one time use only?] Skink Chief - Crown of Command Skrox Unit - 23 Skinks w/ Musician and Banner, 2 Kroxigors 20 Saurus - HW&S, FC Stegadon 5 Chameleon Skinks 999 pts Thoughts?
