I have been playing Warhammer for a few years now, but always before as a dwarf player. My friend talked my girlfriend and I into a battalion box campaign, and she chose Lizardmen. However, I don't think she's going to actually try the game out, and that I may end up playing Lizardmen instead of the Ogre Kingdoms army that I originally intended. This isn't a huge problem for me, as I dont really know either army well.

So far she has bought the Batallion, and has been given an army book, 2 skink priests and a skink chief.

My initial thoughts, after reading the army book, are to split the saurus into 2 blocks of 10, and along with my temple guard form a decent battle line. My big problem is that I am not used to playing a mobile army, so is it better to use the skinks as a sort of sort of mobile hit and run unit, or, do I stick them in my battle line interspersed between my temple guard and saurus? And am I correct in thinking of the mounted saurus as a flanking unit? These are all fairly new concepts to me, as I play a dwarf gunline, with lots of warmachines. Also character wise, would I be better off converting a saurus to lead the army, or sticking with the chief?

I have no idea of the starting points limit for the campaign, though I do know I will be facing the new tomb kings book and dark elves. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated.

As an aside, this is my first post.

Well you might be better off with one unit of 20 saurus in 8th edition.
yep Saurus cold one calvery make a great flan attacker,
and they can take some smaller units head on.
you might consider a cold one mounted scarvet as your general.
I usualy use my skinks as the first wave of attackers,
either keeping to the terrain, flanking or just screening my saurus.
you definateely want them to take out any enemy warmachines,
    especialy anythiing with template attacks.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking I should use the temple guard like I would use hammerers, and the saurus are almost like the normal dwarfs. So would the skinks be used sorta like I would use a gyrocopter(just slower and poisonous)?

One other thing that is throwing me is the cavalry. I have no equivalent in my other army. If I make the general mounted, would it not be counter productive to stick him on the flank?

    With most armise probaly,
our only the Slann has higher LD than Saurus in our army,
so mostly you are only using the generals LD for skinks.

Ok, so that makes sense. Stick him out on the flank with the harassers and then they can use his leadership to not run away like little scaredy skinks.

Is there a particularly effective set up for a scar vet on cold one, or do I just base it on the army that I'm fighting?
