hello I've been playing around with other armies including tomb kings and vampire counts, but I think im ready to get started with lizardmen. I am thinking of a 2500 point list. I know almost 0 about lizardmen, so any idea's on how to get started or what I should take would be very helpful indeed.

    Welcome to the forum!

We have a lot of information you can read up about, to get a better feel for the lizardmen.
    Tactica index
You might want to read a few things to start off with, it's quite a long read if you do it in 1 go anyway :D

What I'd suggest is a model for a 2500 points list:

Slann - BSB, Harmonic Convergence, Channeling staff and either Wanderling Deliberations or Focus of Mystery.

Scar-vet Cold one, Dawnstone, charmed shield.
Skink priest, Level 2, dispell scroll. Lore of beasts or heavens to preference

    30 Saurus warriors, FC, Spears
    10 skink skirmishers
    10 skink skirmishers

    25 Temple Guard - FC
    Bastilodon

    Salamander
    Ancient stegadon w/ Sharpened horns.

This is not a full list, but it's a solid start for a lot of armies. You can add/remove things as you please, but this would be my 'base list' if I were to start a 2,5k army.

    Good luck!

The Hunted's list is a fairly standard looking template to start with, although it needs more core for a 2500. ;) Take a look at the tactica index, there are some really good ideas in there.

I would actually start by figuring out the models you like, or the models you will have, and then building around that. You will probably spend as much time painting these little men as playing with them so you should like the look of them. If cost is a consideration, then you will probably want to start with a battalion set and go from there.

ok so far, I have the following:

16 saurus warriors with hand weapons and full command
24 skinks with javelins and shields.
    stegadon with great bow

and I was thinking of adding kroxigors to the skink unit, and also some temple guard. I realize this list needs lots of work, but are there some pointers you can give me to make this list better.

I might be working on a more monster type list, full of stegadons, bastiladons, terradons(or ryperdcyadles, cant decide yet) and some salamander groups.

thank you for the help :)
