Hello All, I've been toying with the idea of starting a Lizardmen army. My normal procedure is to write a list first then proceed to shop from there, but I feel that its important to have a nice diverse pool of models to make a variety of lists, so this time I'm not going to... So below I've written a list of purchases I am considering making with regards to this Lizardmen force: 1 x Lizardmen Army Book 1 x Lizardmen Magic Cards 2 x Lizardmen Battalions (I figure I can use the Cold One's as these so called scar vet/ob cowboys) 1 x Lizardmen Skink Regiment 1 x Lizardmen Slann Mage Priest 1 x Lizardmen Skink Priest 1 x Salamander Hunting Pack 1 x Lizardmen Stegadon 1 x Lizardmen Terradon/Ripperdactyl 1 x Lizardmen Bastiladon Is there anything else you think would be a worthy addition or anything that's probably not worth buying?
Def can skip on the book. It's basically just a waste of money. Just stay logged on to L-O during your games to ask questions. Much cheaper But for real, looks like a pretty good list. I flip flop on the cards. I bought them mainly cause I'm a LM nerd, but I find myself flipping through my book more often than using them. Probably just a bad habit. If I were you I would write an army list still. Start at like 1500 and see what you come up with. That'll let you see which models YOU actually want to use, rather than which ones WE like. I mean, you're missing a Carnosaur! I have 2 for goodness sakes! Lol.
Buy the cards. It makes life easier and they are cheap and nice. They are also limited run so expect them to be gone soon. 2 battalions is unnecessary in my opinion. 16 cold one riders seems like a waste to me.
Depends on what level you want to play, but I would up the salamander hunting pack count to a min of 2 or 3. Converting cold ones to scar vet on cold one and/or an oldblood on cold one is a good choice for them. Converting a TG to a scar vet on foot and an old one on foot is a good idea. I prefer great weapons just because they hit so hard and cut through armour saves and initiative is a bit low anyway. Consider adding Krox. I think that they are under-rated in a smaller skink cohort unit for the Leadership boost and to hit harder. and they are not bad, if screened from reguilar shooting as a very hard hitting flanking unit. of 3 to 6. On the cards, it is nice to put the cards down next to the unit you cast a spell on or have a spell in play just to remember and keep track of them. It also is handy as a quick reference to see what you rolled for in spells and what spells you can still cast, but I still sometimes just photocopy the pages of magic lores and check off the spells just in case I misplace a card or too or forget which spells I have.
