Heey everybody, I am a new player and the look of the lizardmen really appealed To me so i got some saurus Warriors and a skink priest to paint while on Holiday, where i am now. I quite a lot of GW paints andere was thinking green with some orange strips. Does that work? I was als thinking if you have any tips i'd rather hear before i start than after I'll problably het some more lizardmen second hand when i am home again so i can play some games Thanks in advance! Nukes
The good thing about lizardmen is that just about every colorscheme works. Have a look at the painting section of the forum, I'm sure you will find some inspiration there.
As Haemoglobin said: And practice makes perfect, or my version: practice makes better. You have come to the right place for all things Lizardmen, whether you want to play Warhammer fantasy or Age of Sigmar. Depending on what you like the best, I would get a Saurus character, I assume you would like him, given that your first buy is Saurus. Looking forward to seeing your work If you want to see some really awesome models, search for Neveroddoreven, he is stupidly good. And last but not least: Welcome to the Jungle, or what this new AOS thing might be.
I got 3 Models assembled andere 2 partly painted. One full greens, one green with an orange beak andere third one will be green with orange stripes. Lighting sucks now so will try to het some pictures tomorrow. I want to know which looks best andere copy that over the rest of the Models
Agreed with N810 the one with the stripes looks best. Also something you can easily do on an entire army
Yea i like the stripes as well. I'm either gonna stripe thrm all or only the comman group to make them stand out some more. What do you guys think? I heard that in the fluff the elites often het striper or red marks.
Welcome to the forum! Another great thing with Lizardmen is that they don't all have to look exactly the same. I mean, they should look like a cohesive force, but they don't have to be identical. If you take a look at my painting blog (in the signature), you can see that I have differing amounts of orange on my Saurus; one has orange only on its chin, one has fully orange head. I think it makes the unit more interesting. And what comes to your models, they look good, I definitely would add orange details instead of just plain green. I like the one whose face is all orange, but that's probably because I painted my models like that... Good luck with your painting and don't be afraid to try new things!
Thanks! I'll have a look at your forces right away. It could be fundeed indeed to give each one a slightly different touch of orange! Edit: wow you are a good painter! Fun to see the timeline toont!
Aww, thanks. Yeah, I have been keeping the blog since I started with Lizardmen. It's a great feeling to look at your older models and see how far you have gotten. You just musn't give up if something feels too difficult at first.
I really like how you have the stripes across the back. The light green one is pretty slick, but it doesn't pop out as much as the orange
Yea i was debating putting the stripes on the one with the orange beak but wasn't sure yet. Its easy enough to do so i.might go for it. I think i'm gonna give them all some orange stripes or beak and the command group red stripes
They look really good, going back to what @Caprasauridae mentioned about using different colours, I painted 30 saurus to a basic level put tried to be as fast as possible, I missed loads of detail on them but I did a white underbelly and chin on every model and then did a different colour wash on groups of 6, a fast and effective way I found to vary your troops
