    Heya,

You're probably all sick of me by now, but just one last question...

I'm stumped about wether to have 2 squads of 2 salamanders or 1 squad of 2 Salamanders and a Stegadon?

What do you guys recon would be better.

I'll be fighting Dwarves and Tomb Kings mostly.

I'll be out of your hair after this, and I really appreciate the help :)

    2 squads of 2 salamanders .

taking a single steg against those armise,
he will likely not make it across the battlefield.

In my opinion, in games ranging from 1000 pts up, you should take as many salamanders as you can. I only take a stegadon in games of 2000+. And then, it is hero slot (chief or priest).

For overiding the armor save of the stunties, the salamanders will earn their points back easily. Also, isn't the TK army flammable? Anyway, you will get more versatile use from the sallies.

Yep. Sallies ftw. PLUS a unit of 3 Sallies has more wounds then a Steg, so they can soak up more damage. I also think that 3 spouted flames (interesting wording) will do more damage than the giant blowpipe as well.

I don't think I would want Cthulhu in my hair. Good thing lizards are hairless!

Cheers for the advice guys... I figured it'd be that, but was a bit curious.

    Thank you so much.

I'll, hopefully, be uploading my army as it grows :)

Salamanders, to be honest. Stegadons are good if you have more than one, but one can get shot dead a well placed cannonball.

I frequently play small points competitive games, and I take one Salamander with four skinks. It beat a High Elf force by itself, almost.

Tomb Kings are generally lightly armored, so Salamanders ignoring armor is not that useful. Also, only heroes and lords are flammable and most often at least the fighty Tomb King or Prince has Dragon Helm or other flame protection, so that's not a really good reason to take sallies either. Still, I'd say Salamanders all the way!

Agreed. As someone who loves stegadons, don't bring a single one unless you know you're against light shooting for the reasons stated.

I say Ancient Steg vs. Tomb Kings – I played vs. the 100 archer (200 shot per shooting phase) TK list and they only put 1 or 2 wounds on my stegs before they crossed the board and started pulverizing skeletons to dust.

Vs. Dwarf Salamanders all the way.

If you can only pick 1 then I agree Salamanders are more versatile and are not cannonball magnets
