Alright, we're in the middle of a warhammer weekend here, so haste in replies would be appreciated.

I have a cold-one mounted character in a unit of saurus.

Are they Immune to Psychology due to the stupidity of the character passing to the unit? Having read a lot of tactics on this forum, the over-riding opinion is that they do. But my opponents have debated this, and being unable to provide them an immaculately worded rule clarifying it, I have had to defer to them.

Does anyone know where it is worded that a character with stupidity joining a unit transfers across not only the bad points, but the immunity to psych too? Page numbers, or errata/FAQ versions would be much appreciated!

    Thank you all!

It clearly says under the stupidity rule that unit of "one or more models with stupidity" must take a stupidity test which makes them subject to stupidity.

notice: it is not HAVING stupidity that makes them immune to psychology, its being SUBJECT to it that does.

on the same account: know that his "Fear" dosnt help the saurus in any way. the wording for that rule is different.

    Page 76 under stupidity:

The start specifically states that "models that are subject to stupidity are also immune to psych".

In the next para, it states that "a unit containing one of more models with the stupidity special rule" takes the LD test to overcome the stupidity.

    Page 100 under special rules:

"Unless otherwise noted in the text of the rule itself, a special rule applying only to a character does not apply to the unit itself, and vice versa."

Compare this to the wording on the stubborn special rule on page 76 which explicitly indicates that a character gains stubborn from a stubborn unit and a stubborn character makes any unit they join stubborn.

Taking these excerpts from the BRB together, it appears that the unit itself would not be immune to psychology when the mounted scar vet was in it. Only "models" with the special rule are ITP and the wording separates between the unit and models within it that have that the stupidity special rule. At no point does the unit itself gain the stupidity special rule, it simply suffers the effects from the failed leadership test. Unfortunately, the wording for stupidity is not as clear as it is for stubborn and there is some gray area. Regrettably, IIRC, there was a prior FAQ that addressed this issue specifically with regards to wizards still being able to cast if they were in a unit that failed stupidity if they themselves were not stupid but it has since been removed.
