    Hey everyone!

So, I'm making this second paint blog to Highlight my W'adrhun from the new Tabletop Wargame, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings, which are an orc like race that rides Dinosaurs. There's a lot more to them but that's the very basic description for them.

So although not Seraphon or Lizardmen they do ride Dinosaurs into battle and create bond with them, and are even able to directly communicate with them. Their lore is actually very fascinating!

You can check it out here:

    https://www.para-bellum.com/wadrhun/

I am creating this paint blog to keep the two brands seperate. I am while I wait for my models creating background lore which can be found here on the forums:

    https://www.lustria-online.com/threads/sudss-conquest-last-argument-of-kings-blog-homebrew.25762/

I don't yet have the models, but this is the beginning list I'll be painting which includes the W'adrhun Warbamd box + raptor riders and Matriarch preorders:

=== The Last Argument of Kings ===

    The W'adrhŭn - 1275/2000

I'm looking forward to these models and game, I ABSOLUTELY love that it is a living world where the community votes on the outcome of the world stories.

Should get my models hopefully this month.

However, before getting to the models, I really want to give a shout out to the art on these boxes! It's really quite stunning and I was honestly blown away. Im really excited to get the raptors and other pre orders, Im a sucker for good box art (lookin at you Celestial Stampede)

So I decided to start with building 4 hunters out of the 12 and the Predator. I figure this might help me stay focused, having to finish these before building and continuing on.

I started with the Predator, I did this primarily because the Hunters have some cleaning up to do that I didn't want to get into yet haha. The Predator also is just a gorgeous model, as you'll see, I mean really all of them are though!

Been a real joy to paint, ill go into more detail when I have less of a jello brain... lol

    Happy wip wednesday everyone!

This is my current Progress on my W'adrhŭn Predator, Shal'zon. Focused primarily on his weapons last night finally, working on his Blue Obsidian blade and his crossbow that im envisioning to have bone strengthened wood limbs (hence the bone color and not wood). I am getting close to being done with this hero piece, possibly finish him today or early tomorrow? We shall see!

Really happy with my slightly reworked Obsidian recipe though, I don't think the picture does it justice and will get a better one later with the next update

    Blue Obsidian:

    Primer: Chaos Black

Step 1: Dry Brush Kantor Blue, Shade Drakenhof Nightshade

Step 2: Dry Brush Thousand Sons Blue, Shade Drakenhof Nightshade

Step 3: Dry Brush Sotek Green, Shade with Coelia Greenshade

Step 4: Dry Brush Temple Guard Blue , Dry Brush Xereus Purple, Shade Aethermatic Blue

Step 5: Dry Brush Baharroth Blue, Shade Drakenhof Nightshade + Coelia Greenshade

Step 6: Highlight Kantor & Thousands Sons Blue, Shade with Drakenhof Nightshade & then Nuln Oil

I did skip Step 5 on this particular blade.

Nice combination of colors, I like the Dino's head, very bright Blue and Orange.
    The Obsidian blade looks cool.

What is the size comparison to the Warhammer models?

Thank you! Honestly the Carnotaurus head has been one of my favorite parts to paint, and funny enough is a Sotek Green base lol

Sotek Green, Temple Guard Blue Highlights and Terradon Turquoise thinned a bit as a wash. Need to finish it up though, have the neck muscles/spine to do + finish the neck spikes

So, size comparison is pretty close, I believe Conquest is 32mm scaled. I should have gotten a picture of a warrior next to a Hunter (non hero) unit, cause that size difference is probably bigger. But id say they are in line at least with the newer stuff GW is producing, and I'd argue the quality is the same or possibly slightly better, especially with their new methods veing implemented with wave 2 stuff

Oldblood vs Predator, first model ever vs most current

That is a good comperison, due to the amazing amount of details I thought they would be bigger.

Nice 2 years of painting side by side ;)

I remember you getting excited about these - how's your project been going with these?

I recently had another look at Conquest when thinking about suitable Orc models as part of a historical fantasy project I've been chatting with @Gauntlet about, and these fit the description he thought of nicely. The Orcs in his lore are 8-10 feet tall, and I'm thinking these Wad'rhun models, being larger than 28mm scale (34-38mm aren't they?) would look that height compared to standard 28mm human models like those made by Warlord.

Do you have any 28mm historicals, and if so, would it be possible for you to do another size comparison between them and your Wad'rhun?

Other than skinks or Saurus from GW this skink I had printed is the closest I'd have to 28mm. The skink is scaled to 22/24mm (cant remember which exactly, think 22mm) to match the size of the Stegadon Skinks. I personally think these would make for a suitable orc force representation. 20210923_101053.jpg

As for the W'adrhŭn themselves, slow, admittedly AOS and my Seraphon have taken the spotlight again. The Conquest community around me has grown quite a bit though, not that I'm willing to go into stores yet regardless.

I have my Predator done and have started 2 raptor riders + the original hunters I started. I do want to do em, I just need to get used to the idea that i cant really kitbash, which is for me a bummer. They atm just have limiting bits due to being a newer game system, so it'll change in time. Their Tyranosaur unit, the Apex, was shown off at GenCon, looks so badass.

These are the raptor rider WIPs and my first kitbashes. Using the feathered decorations from the Slingers that i wont use i made my raptor riders have a Hussar feel.

Ill be working on my W'adrhŭn soon though, id like to get a small force painted up.

The W'adrhŭn who can speak to Dinosaurs are called Speakers, and yes she most certainly can *if she has the gene* which lorewise, mine can. They usually become companions to Apex Predators, aka T Rex.
