So today during a crazy ass game
i was asked to make a SUPER block for my slann

(everyone was allowed to add double models based on a avg cost)
I received a 16. Meaning i can add a extra 20 TG's for free. But to that unit.

... i didnt know how to set this up so this is what i did

    X= TG's
    S = Slann

    XXXXXXXX
    XXXXXXXX
    XXXSSXXX
    XXXSSXXX
    XXXXXXXX
    XXXXXXXX

As you can tell it was 44 TG.. which i dont own. A fellow LM player wanted to see the chaos and loaned me some more.

20 cost nothing. however it was weird.
    It felt stupid
    and i didnt move.
I chose heavens (mostly because i didnt want to move the unit)
    sat close to the edge
    and blew stuff up..

    Has anyone seen this.

over all the points of this unit was :
    384 points for the 24 TG's
slann was 375 making it a
    759 point unit.

... middle way though (and this is why it is in the rule help)
a dark elf mention that my book only shows a slann in a 6 wide. not a 8 wide.
I explained that the rules are showing how mixed units count as ranks and now how it should be done.

... the other 2 opponents didn't care they though it was a cool thing.
he was still yelling at me when we tied the game.
Sorry no screen shots .... . i suck

    so was this wrong

(please no comments on the free 16 points i know it was not my idea to do it)(but it did look cool)

and yes this was at a GW.

Are you sure you weren't playing 40K?

Joking aside, yes that is a legal configuration for your TG. You could have made a single line of 24 with the Slann in the second row if you wanted. Or you could have made a column with a frontage only 2 TG wide, then the Slann in the second row, and the other 22 behind him. The minimum is 2, since otherwise the front rank would be smaller than the second rank (Slann being 2 wide).

First off, in your image. You need to put the slann in the second rank ("guardians" p.43), other then that it looks good.

As far as the whining dark elf player, he doesn't know what he is squawking about, that's why he is playing DE. It doesn't matter how big the first rank is as along as the slann is in the second rank. If you want it to be 4 wide you can, if you want it to be 8 wide you can. The book was just showing an example on how to get rank bonuses with a slann.

Yeah I was going to comment that he should be in the second not the third rank... Aside from that, there isn't any mention at all of restrictions as to how wide you can go. Good work killing the Dark Elves.

Ah he needs to be in the second instead

meh like i said i didnt win or lose i tied.

again..... GW sucks sometimes. you start a game at 7 pm it has to end at 9

you dont get done setting up till 7:45 ... and dark elfs seem to take 23 mintues longer to set up then any other race.
