Swarms!

With the new rule of swarms granting friendly units in the same combat poisoned attacks and their lower points cost, fielding these small critters seems so much more fun!

But in my book the ones from GW only looks OK and they are not that cheap either.
Therefore I'm wondering if you have any ideas of other models you could use instead?

And apparently the snakes you get from the Bastiladon would work as swarms aswell

But yeah. Any ideas?

Most of us here use the snakes that come with the CoC for making swarms. The general consensus is that the GW ones look like crap.

I agree that the GW ones are way too expensive for what they are. I'm not a fan of the Cold one cav snakes either, but they are plentiful.

Maybe we could compile a list of good alternative models out there, and put the ones you find here?

I have a lot of the swarms from gw since I got them on ebay cheaply. I think most of them look okay. But I agree theybare to expensive. The ones you get from the cold ones look really bad in my opinion.
My suggestion is that you make them of rolls og greenstuff and make a snake pit on the base. Should be super easy.

The snakes from the Bastiladon set work fantastic, especially since you can use the pieces of the Ark of Sotek as rubble on the base. I also threw in the bloat toad from the Terradon kit for some diversity.

I have some GW swarms, I don't mind them at all.

There are plenty of mini-makers out there who have generic lizards, snakes, spiders etc etc

There's one that actually has a page full of resin small beasties, but I can never remember what it is...

I have a GIANT SNAKE coiled up that I'll be using on a single swarm base all by himself too

the snakes you get with the bastiadon are good and if you make the solar engine you would have enough to make 2-3 bases of snakes

Really, how hard can it be to roll out a snake of putty, cut it into 5 or 10 snakes and paint them in different colors and patterns? A snake has got to be the second easiest thing in the world to sculpt. The easiest being a nose booger...

If that were true, GW's swarm wouldn't suck.

GW's swarm is actually made up of very large (almost skink sized) lizards. I don't think it sucks actually, but in any event, they aren't snakes. Snakes are dead easy to sculpt. Give it a shot!

I think we got some good examples here but I have to say the GW swarms are ugly as sin! I can't stand them. I'd rather make my own (probably terribly sculpted) snakes. I rather like the ones from the CoC box and definitely like the ones from the Bastiladon.
