I used to collect dwarfs so am familiar with the tactics of a gun line army
But have recently started to collect Lizardmen (i know nothing about Lizardmen tactics) and was hoping someone could help me with some tactics for some of my opponents which I regularly play ( high elves, wood elves, and scaven )
At this stage i am thinking of having a load of skink skirmishes (all can fire) and surround them with jungle swarms to prevent them from getting in too close combat
Does anyone have any ideas or advice?

    Thanks :meh:

Don't know much about High/Wood Elves cus I never fight them. But Skaven... (by the way, do you know what their list is?)They will outnumber you and their going to have allot of goodies to throw at you. But if you touch them they die. The best way to deal with 'em is make them take as many LD tests as possible, and salamanders are great for this (much better than their warp-fire throwers). Ignore their slaves as much as possible or make 'em run from Skink fire. This will eliminate their bate and flee tactic and open up the Clan Rat blocks to magic and what ever shooting you can get. Your biggest problem will be Poisoned Wind Mortars since they will always would on a 5+ (4+ center) regardless of your toughness, Warp-Lightning Cannons or Plague Claw Catapults so take these out as quickly as possible. Terridons will be wonderful for that and fliers are the bane of Skaven armies so utilize them. Remember as long as you get the charge the rats are as good as gone.

Use Terridons to take out artillery and Weapons Teams and slow the armies movement. Use Salamanders to force panic tests on slaves and regular blocks. Skirmishers to out skirmish theirs and knock out a couple ranks (which the rats need for LD and out numbering). And break their line with saurus. Keep in mind that Skaven rely on static CR to win and if you can deny them that then you win.

I also came from dwarves to lizardmen, and I'm having a blast.

    Biggest change you have to make;
Dwarves are by nature very defensive, and lizardmen are...not. IMO Lizardmen are offensive.

So, adjust your playing style to the army. Which in this case:
    MOVE!

Learn to move and make moves with the army. Your skinks are invaluable here. You still have some awesome infantry, and tough heroes.

You know how to defend yourwar machines, now you need to learn attacking them.

Skink skirmishers are very good. You need AT LEAST 2x10. Jungle swarms....not so much. It's better to leave them at home and go for something else. Salamander(s) are very good, as are terradons.

    on your opponents:
HE: Your saurus spears will win vs any HE infantry, or at least hold. His cavalry is only dangerous on the charge, after that they are S3 with a pretty decend armour save.
His magic is probably better than yours, unless you have a Slann.
His heroes aren't tough enough to tackle yours, but watch out for the +D6 combat resolution banner!

    WE:
They are pretty much all skirmishers. Watch your infantry blocks, they will be outflanked in no time. Use your supporting troops to dictate the game and destroy his small units one by one.
Magic; his magic is pretty much defensive only. But they are pretty good at that, your slann should be able to deal good damage though.
heroes: his are fast, but without any decent protection. Get them!
    Terradons are golden.

    Skaven:
They will always outnumber you, but their troops are rubbish. Saurus spears carve through them, just watch your flanks!
Your support should go for his war machines and his support. Terradons are golden. Skink are very usefull.
magic: his magic is very destructive, and can fire back on him. Prepare to dispell! your slann can and likely will overpower his magic defense.
heroes: his heroes are pretty weak, but pack nasty surprises.
The entire army is huge, and boasts a lot of blocks. Use your fast skirmishers to sneak through and to all kinds of nasty stuff!

    Good luck!

Any tips for a lion chariot
I have a friend who seems to think high elves cavalry can get impact hits
Can someone please clarify that he can’t (maybe that’s why I keep losing!!)
    Thanks again for your help
    P.S

HE cavalry with impact hits?!? Where did that come from? Simply ask him to point out the rule in his book which says they do, he will be sadly lacking since they don't.

The Lion Chariot.. Wow that is an interesting piece of work. It is almost twice the cost of the tiranoc chariot and essentially does the same job, I was at the forefront of the HE players saying it was useless for its points when the book first came out. Now I cannot count the amount of times it has had a massive impact on a battle and saved the day for me. From stopping a unit charging it through fear to inflicting massive casualties, and combining brilliantly with the fear causing Phoenix Guard to break units... Well, you don't want to hear that. The simple fact is even without the impact hits, in combat it is great, so you want to try to keep it out of combat.

Unfortunately, LM don't have the best long range but that is usually where it can suffer. Try magic on it. The toughness is low for a chariot, it still is rather expensive, and has a pretty crappy save compared to most chariots. Point is, glass hammer. Hit it before it hits you.

HE elite infantry is really good now, but quite poor armour. Skink skirmishers are what you need, hit them with blowpipes or javelins from range and watch those swordmasters die in a hurry. Spearmen are ok, but as The Hunted said they will fall to saurus now. Dragon Princes are probably one of the toughest things you will face. Yes, after the charge they have s3, but 2 attacks and ASF with high WS is nothing to laugh at. Plus the horses get to attack. 6 princes will dish out 19 attacks including champ and horses, and the 2+ armour makes them tough. Granted, mine don't usually face saurus warriors, but against s/t 3 infantry, even without the charge they often win combat or at least draw, plus they have very good leadership to stick around. You want to get them clogged up with saurus, who they will struggle with, and possibly have a character in the unit facing them to eat them quicker.

Rest of the HE army... Well, it is balanced enough and not powerful so it really depends specifically on what your opponent takes and how he uses them. They must be used properly to win.
