Ok, so on the 21st of Feburary there's a team tournamet of 1250 per team mate at my local GW store. (Probably because they only have 3 tables, lol) Me and my old partner-in-crime, a VERY skilled HE general that always gives me and anyone else he fights a run for their money, decided to join forces. I'm not very fond of the very un-teamlike rules however. We aren't allowed to effect each others' units, like my Engine can't give his men a Ward save and I can't use his General's Leadership, stuff like that. No special characters allowed. So, here's my list, I'll have his list here soon I hope. Saurus Scar-Veteran- Shield, Great Weapon, Hide of the Cold Ones= 144 Skink Priest- Engine of the Gods, Level 2 Wizard, Plaque of Tepok= 405 Skink Chief- Terradon, shield, Light armor, spear= 93 Saurus Warriors- x10, spears, standard= 132 Saurus Warriors- x10 spears, standard, champion= 144 Chameleon Skinks- x5= 60 Terradons- x4= 120 Razordons- x2= 150 Total = 1248 My main strategy is to use my Engine to protect my saurus, and march them slowly but surely towards the main line of my enemy. Mean while, I'll be sure there's a wood somewhere in the middle of the board and use my Chameleons there to march block and potentially killed any giant monsters or single characters, maybe panic a small artillary force. My Terradons will use the forest as cover before I fly over one of the enemies main unit, Dropping 5D3 auto-hitting Str 4 rocks on top of their heads. My Chief is there to give my terradons a useful Leadership and his improved stats at 3 Str 5 attacks will alow them to kill wizards in combat. And my Stupid, but Fear-causing Toughness 6, Strength 7 general will lead the Saurus without a champion, letting them cause fear to resist something powerful like Daemons and my General being a anchor due to his almost dragon-like stats. Or, depending on who we face, I can take a defensive approach, allowing my Terradons to fly forward to silence enemy magic and war machines, allowing my HE friend's RBT's to smash the enemy to bits as we let them come to us. This, mainly against non-shooty armies like Daemons, Warriors of Chaos, etc. allows us to sit back with SpearElves and SpearLizards defending the machines with my Engine giving my men a Ward save and blasting apart any units that dare venture too close. My friend's strong amounts of cav will allow us extreme flexibility, whether we need to haul across the board and smash into enemy lines, or use them to crush our enemies flanks, they will prove helpful. Our main goal is to use the Terradons to wipe out war machines while his sickly RBT's blow apart the units hiding wizards, if the Skink Chief doesn't get there first. Then, to have the Razordons fly towards big squishy units like Goblins or Clan Rats and try to get them to charge, while his Cav will smash the far flanks apart while the saurus trek up the center of the board with an Engine guarding them against heavy cav and melee units, or warding them to keep them alive until we strike gold. My biggest fear is something like a cannon or Bolt throwers sniping my engine or priest, making the unit ineffective, so any advise on a better way to stop this than Terradons or chameleons? Any advise is NEEDED! I've never palyed team before, though I personally think that us not being able to cast helpful spells on one another or use things like my Engine is beyond annoying.
Hasn't teamed up myself and will be carefull with any adwise since I hasn't been able to read the new book yet..(can't wait to the 7th!!) A few questions: can you mix in deployment, or do you field your armyes seperatly? Do you get to know your friends armylist beforhand? And, will your friend be able to field a star dragon, or does it take up lord choise? If you do, you can make great use of mixing comboes like HE mage hiding behind your saurus. And for the stardragon, HE player can pose the heavy threat as well as high magic, and you can focus on making strong anvils and fast flankers.
i know why you can't enhance each other picture a vp army resurecting chaos warriors as for teaming up i would recomend dropping the razors and let him do the shooting as HE are much better at it than us mabye some more terradons or a couple units of skinks or krox if he has an excess of calvary like you say mabye go with straight troops to match up with him for a better balacned overall force
Hm...yeah, dropping the Razordons might be wise. As for rules, I believe we deploy as we and our opponents agree, in which case me and my ally will always vie for our enemies and us rolling a di, and however wins gets to decide who deploys first, in which case we trade off one unit at a time and however finishes deployment first gets the +1 to go first. No, we are not allowed to have any Lord choices, the lists count as completely seperate. And I'll post his list in the comment . High Elf Ally's List: Noble- Heavy Armor, Barded Elven Steed, Enchanted Shield, Star Lance= 155 Mage- x2 Dispel Scrolls= 140 Noble- Heavy Armor, Barded Elven Steed, Shield, Lance, Talisman of Saphery= 181 Spearmen- x10= 90 Silver Helms- x5 Shields, Champion, Banner= 147 Silver Helms- x5 Shields, Champion, Banner= 147 Dragon Princes- x5 Champion, Banner= 190 Repeater Bolt Thrower= 100 Repeater Bolt Thrower= 100 As you can see an interesting list. The General's Star Lance gives him +3 strength on the charge and ignores armor saves. (killed my Scar-Veteran round one of a challenge with that sucker) Talisman of Saphery that the BSB wields makes all magical weapons count as only mundane against him. Any thoughts, Strategies, or suggestions are VERY welcome! And I think I'll keep the Razordons as an offensive protecter of the Cav's flanks.
do you and the HE both get your base dispel dice or do you share your base pool cause two extra dispel dice makes a big difference in the long run cause if not you guys could really dominate the magic phase
Our power dice pools are different and we both recieve one army power di instead of two. Our Dispel Di, however, are mixed, so my bascially Level 3 Skink priest gets +1 to Dispel! Mwuhaha! But I need advise!!! By the way, the most threatening team I've learned of that we're battling is a Daemon and Empire team. And I know that the Empire fellow loves shooty things.
I would take the middle of the field (terrian allowing) with the saurus and steggie and let him take the flanks with all his calvary you can march the middle and you should do ok for daemon's and empire i'd recomend rushing the guns with only 1250 he won't have and excessive amount and between the chamelions, terries and calvary you should be able to wipe them out pretty early after which you guy's can gang up on the daemon's which your're saurus will hopefully still be holding up in the middle you might see if you can't squeeze in another priest or if he can bring another mage mabye even a dragon mage for just such an ordeal the EoG needs to get in range of the daemons early to make them come to you otherwise they very likely will stay back with the guns but if your hitting them with D6 hits every turn he'll have to try and come out and stop you hopefully there will be no skaven/empire/dwarf, combos in any way otherwise your small army will get shot to death good luck
