Haven't used him yet... I might be worth mentioning that you can put him on a stegadon this edition,
unfortunately he looses his jungle swarm when he does this.

I havent used him, but a few things to bear in mind:

    - He's actually relatively reasonably priced for a Lord level special character who is a vaugley decent fighter and wizard.

    - His magic items are both average at best

    - He's unbreakable unless he goes on a stegadon, so i imagine there's potential for putting him in a big unit of skrox

    - the major downside imo is that while he uses beasts, he can't benifit from bears anger as he's US3 (at least that's my interpretation of the rules of bears anger, correct?)

    - his army wide special rule is probably the reason to take him, so make sure you have plenty of skinks to benifit from it :)

actually, being unbreakable he can't join any unit except ubreakable units.... so he's eiher on his own or on a steggie

    Yeah, I like Tehenhauin.

He's our cheapest Lord choice and he fills two spots. If you're really looking for a caster Lord without dedicating yourself to the slann set up he checks that box. Lore of beast is pretty cool too with some of the best spells and he gives hatred to all your skinks when fighting skaven! It really makes those skrox units much more powerful and your skirmishers too (and stegadons and terradons etc).

The second slot he fills is the EotG if you want to take one. First you say "Wait, he costs 540 points with the stegadon making him more than an oldblood on carnosaur!" But he fills two roles in your army, and gives you that variety from the normal Lore of Heavens skinks priest. The only other place you'll find a Lord + Stegadon is Mazdamundi... which, interestingly enough, is only 80 points more for a level 4 wizard (who Tehenhauin is actually better in combat than)...

I guess it just comes down to personal choice.

If you're looking for a break from "hero hammer" this guy is it. He is pretty strong in his own right but his power really comes from what he does for your army. I'm a big fan of generals who make your army stronger rather than replacing it on the front lines. But, that's just me.

    Bump,

Has anyone successfully used him? He seems like he would be really cool to use with jungle swarms but kind of vulnerable like that unless you are careful.

I see a lot of people really dis on him but Lore of Beasts is actually pretty cool and he has some neat abilities, especially if you're looking to whoop up on skaven.

a slann can get lore of beasts adn use it better.
he can't join units since he is unbreakable so any magic/shooting will take him down unless you keep him in the back so he loses his purpose.
is it hatred against skaven for all skinks? that means your cohort and skirmishersr reroll their WS 2 S3 attacks in the 1st round of close combat, clan rats will still wipe the floor with them,
    probably slaves too.

if you are counting on Skorx units to do the killing then you are counting on kroxigors to do the killing and they dont get hatred

i think.... no army book nearby to check

My interpretation is that he's an awesome Lord choice to use if your running a skink army. He's not overly priced and his special rules give your army some umph. Plus it allows you a very decent lore besides Heavens you'd only have otherwise.

In a standard list where you'll see more Saurus than skinks on the front lines I don't think he'd be worth it.
