So I'm assembling my freshly bought temple guard, and apparently the musician's drums only have a top but not a button. Do I see this right or am I missing something?

I noticed that too; I just used one of the circular emblems from a saurus set to cover the hole. Dunno if it's supposed to be like that though.

It's supposed to be like that. Drums like that produce a very low tone, and having a bottom head would "mute" the sound produced. Leaving it open allows the sound to travel better. Just think of it like a djembe.
