    Greetings Spawn-Mates,

It has been a while since I have posted. I was tempted by Wood Elves and then almost by Ogres, before coming back to the right path of the Old Ones. Now that I have decided to go with Lizardmen strictly right now, I am building up my army. My question is, which should I get first, Temple Guard, Saurus, or Stegadon? Here is a list of what I currently have to help:

Saurus Scar-Vet/Oldblood, Skink Priest, 24 Saurus (set up with 2 sets of Command, since i was doing 1000 points and warbands), 24 Skinks (12 with Jav and Shield, rest with blowpipes), 8 Cold One Cavalry, and 1 Salamander with 3 handlers.

I love the look of the Guard but if I did the Saurus, I would go with Spear and Shield to give me some difference from my current ones that are Sword and Shield.

Heh, have to agree with asrodrig. All are great options and cool looking models. Probably scratch Temple Guard for now since you don't have a Slann yet, I think I would pick the steg, though I am a bit bias since I love stegadons. :p Add a bit more punch to your army, you seem to have an ok amount of core for smaller battles already.

TG only really come into their own with a slann.
A slann is a specific lord choice, you either go magic or you go combat and run with an OB of some description.
As such you wont see a slann on the table in every game. A steg on the other hand you can pretty much count on seeing, just check the army lists posted here. SO go for the steg, the model looks cooler (IMO) and you are sure to field it in just about every game making the most of your money.

Personally, I wouldn't but the Temple Guard models at all. The price is just way too steep for me.

That out of the way, both the Saurus and Stegadon are staples in a majority of lists. You can also use the Saurus models for Temple Guard (paint them with a different color scheme, etc.).

As was previously mentioned, you already have a lot of Core models. I would probably opt for a Stegadon, then the Saurus, then the Temple Guard (if you really, really want the models).
