Anyone else read this pretty awesome book?
It's a Thanqual and Boneripper book taking place in Lustria.

I finished it about 3 weeks ago. It was amazing. I love the attitude that the slann had toward everything. The great math. Magic being equations.

Good stuff. Highly recommend it.

That was my fave bit as well!! Totally gave me a different outlook on the big Toads now. Think the author really captured the Lizardmen well although Boneripper was very much over powered Loved the ending to the humans n elf

Was it just me or did you feel that chamo skinks would be unbeatable in the warhammer world?

I loved the way the author described the Slann's thought process. The big downside for me, as mentioned above, was that Boneripper seemed much too overpowered.

Still, it's worth the read.

The way the chameleons were written would have to imply a -2 to hit them (game wise). Although, the elf did see them (not that it helped him).

He only noticed the chamo due to it standing in the waves which it couldn't adjust to right. There were others right beside him which he didn't notice mwhahah take that pansy elf!

Bone Ripper killing at least 4 kroxigors, a carnosaur, over a dozen skinks, an avatar of Sotek and a horde of zombies was just a bit OTT Kind cements the fact in my mind GW view carnosaur as a giant raptor more than a tyrannosaurus rex.

Reading the book also gave me the impression the Lizardmen have some form of access to a necromantic like lore. Interesting. Thinking about getting Burning Shore now - any good words on it?

Its been a while since I read The Burning Shore, but I wasn't impressed. I liked the main characters (Florin and Lorenzo), but I didn't care for the depiction of Lustria or the Lizardmen. In addition, the short story that follows The Burning Shore contradicts the fluff biology of Lizardmen since it implies that skinks hatch from eggs rather than emerge from Spawning Pools. Temple of the Serpent is much better.

However, I did really like "Wild Kingdoms", the second Florin & Lorenzo novel. which is set in the Ogre Kingdoms. I don't know much about OK so I don't know if the author got the fluff right, but I enjoyed the book. The 3rd novel continues the story from Wild Kingdoms and is also pretty good.

Does the book give a lot of attention to the Lizardmen then?

I'd thought to avoid it, since it seemed to be more about Thanquol and Boneripper. But now, considering how relatively little of the two Nagash books focus on Nagash, and this thread, I'm thinking otherwise.

If I had to give a percentage on Lizardmen coverage, I would say its about 30-35% Lizardmen.

Tbh the Prologue is all Lizardmen prescriptive and near the end when the climax is coming also. Everything in between is a really good prescriptive how men and Skaven would view Lizardmen. I do recommend it, I didn't really notice anything that contradicts current fluff except expanding and creating some.

Note : Thanqual is AMAZING to read about, I too was hesitant at first but very happy I did.

Note 2 : Nagash books are utter drivel! Killed any love I had prior to reading them for Tomb Kings and Vampire Counts. Lord, don't get me started on those books >_<

Just finished it, and was not impressed, despite having a Skaven army and collecting a Lizardmen one, and having read tons of fluff and lore behind each (loving them). It did have some redeeming qualities, such as the lizardmen's point of view and the Thanquol parts.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!
- The story was kind of lame and pointless. The motives for the Skaven are weak at best, the parts with the humans were dull.
- Most of the other characters (read; Not Thanquol) were just meh... Adalwolf is stereotypical and boring, same goes for Sommerhaus, and hilltrude is just ridiculously out of place.
- It feels like the writer had the Lizardmen army book in front of him and then thought "well, I HAVE to introduce EVERY single one of these critters" and so he does. It's like he's counting on the mere fact that a particular chapter has a terradon in it will appease the fanboys enough so that they dont notice that he described its cry as "warbling" 3 times or such. Really? Was that necessary?

All in all I think the writing is below average, but then again, I might be jaded after treats such as Lies of Locke Lamora, The First Law, ASoIaF and the name of the wind.
