Terradons Dislike their flying bases.

Quick Question - got my terradons at long last, and used them for the first time on Sat. HOW THE HECK DO YOU KEEP THESE THINGS ON THEIR BASES ? The stupid thigns keep falling off, and if you glue the bases in then they snap off when you transport them. What to do ?
 
Try magnetising them. Flying bases are always a pain no matter what you do, using rare earth magnets should reduce the problem a bit since you can transport them seperately and click them together to battle. Or if you don't use glue, put a bit if blutac in the joint to hold them together a bit better while battling.

That kind of sucks, considering they are like 20 bucks a pop.
I agree with you about the snap thing, it happened to my slann. Twice o_O . I had to drill a hole in the centre. Twice. :D
 
I find the best thing to do with flying models is find a way to convert them to be standing on a rock so they arnt separated by a little twiggy piece of plastic.. A little bit more time consuming but it works well
 
Nice idea... It sounds ok. Now the only prob is $60 minimum for a unit... :depressed:
 
The price tag is indeed a problem, but when you finally got all 3 needed it snaps?

I would say blutac does it's job fairly well, but I'm not experienced flying metal models, just plastic ones...

Yeah, I guess it's an okay price. The same price as the carnosaur.

PS. I'm not poor, just cheap... Very, VERY cheap.
 
I agree with the idea of mounting on rocks... before I sold my old lizardmen (BAD move) I had a Terradon who broke. I loved my conversion though, as he was perched on a rock and as I recall it was very simple to do; repositioning the head, pushing the wings back a bit and placing hte skink a little higher was about it. however don't do this for all of the terradons, becuase it looks a bit shoddy...

I don't see how magnetising the terradons would keep them from braking though... can somone explain that, or have I just noobishly missed something (likely)? >_<
 
Well if you put rare earth magnets on the flying base and bottom of the terradon, when they get knocked then the magnets may pull apart but you can just place the model back on top with no worry about broken glue or anything. Also to transport you can just pull them apart, then click them back together at the other end. It is very easy and convenient.
 
There is a guy on TPV who modeled his Terradons so that they look like they're walking on the ground. I'm not so hot on the idea, but it certainly gets rid of the flying bases problem.

Looks like alot of work for something that's not so dynamic... but it's unique! I'd maybe have a go at one of them... don't know about the whole unit of them though.
 
My latest idea is to model them to look like they're sitting in a tree, ready to pounce. :bored: :pompus:
 
It would require a lot of modeling to the legs and possibly wings, as well as copious amounts of green stuff. If you could pull it off, it would look really cool, but I frankly stink at that stuff. If you do, maybe post some pictures? I'd like to see how it looks.

I have three terradons and just mounted them on slender roofing nails. I just drilled a little into the chest hole then secured the other end on the nail to the base. They are solid and stable. Although i did have to put a lead weight under one because i didn't center it right, but it works great. I'll try and post a picture later.
 
Try putting a little blob of green stuff in the belly hole. Get the plastic stem really wet and shove it inside the hole to mold the green stuff nicely snug to the stem. Pull out the stem and wait for the green stuff to dry.

I have not tried this, so I don't know how viable it is. I have the same problem and thought of the idea while reading this post.

I just did pretty much exactly that last night... just waiting for it to harden. I think its better to use milliput than green stuff as it's harder and less elastic, though I used green stuff as it's all I have.
 
i have a friend who had this problem with landspeeders in 40k (i don't know if they are still metal) he took a nail like was mentioned earlier in this post then he used 'metal stick' it is a jb weld type compound for metals of all types you can't seperate the speeder from the nail for anything now
