    Hey all,

Just wondering what the overall thought on Terradons in 8th ed are? I am considering picking up 3-4 models to form a unit but was wondering how people generally employ them and if they are worth their points?

I am thinking of using them to A.) Hunt Warmachine and Lone Mages and B.) Fly up and down one of my flanks and maybe hassle smaller units.

I really like them. They cause fear and get a stomp attack against normal infantry models. I usually kit out a skink chief to put in ther for some extra killing power. However, most of the time, the regular terradons out perform him. THe key with terradons is to drop rocks before charging. With 8th edition, it is really important to make sure that after you drop your rocks, that you face the direction that you want to charge.

When I play them, I generally shoot for a rear charge on a unit that is already in combat.

Can they do some decent damage when charging into the rear?

Honestly, I wouldn't suggest charging them into the rear of anything that knows how to fight. They die really easily, and do not kill that much (aside from stomp). I would suggest using them for their mobility, they can charge war machines, archer units, and lone characters. I always use a unit f 3 and if I can afford it I use 3 units of 3.

As Shaslain said, charging terradons into anything other than archers, lone chars, or some warmachines (I wouldn't charge a hellcannon) is asking to get slaughtered. They have weak armor, weak toughness and weak ws. Everytime I have tried charging infantry with them, they get killed to no effect.

After my guys drop rocks and there are no viable targets, I try and march block my enemy infantry hordes. Being able to slow a big horde of 50 infantry, even for a turn, can be crucial. It is especially fun to lead frenzied units around as with swiftstride and feigned flight, your terradons can be just within charge range and draw them out of position after a failed leadership roll with minimal risk.

After dropping rocks they are best used as a redirector. Unless you can charge in and assassinate a wizard or hold up/kill a warmachine/missile infantry unit. Another good use is to threaten to charge units that might be forced or choose to flee (which will easily wipe them out)

Agreed. Also I think you should try and drop those rocks as soon as possible. You should almost every time be able to do that on turn 1. After vanguard and first turn fly move you could have moved up to 32" which should be plenty to drop those rocks on desired target.

Have folks had success with them against Dwarven warmachines? I am being killed by Organ cannons these days. As I have the most campaign Victory Points, my opponents are allowed to chose deployment and scenarios and I almost never get the opportunity to scout with my chameleons as a result. I need an alternative, and I have 5 terradons in blister packs (2 old, 2 new and the skink special character...should at least be fun to paint!)
