    Hello Lustria!

In my last game against a Dark Elves we came to wonder, how do the terror on a charge work?

Do one need to roll for terror when the other person declares a charge against the unit? And in that case can a creature with terror just declare a charge against units across the table or does it need some kind of range like movement + d6 as it seams to be now in 8th edition.? Should one then use the maximum potential range?

Or is it just the actual charge that gives terror if it reaches? And it wont cause it if the charge is failed. (This option seams to make the most sense to me)

I do not have the rulebook as my friend is the keeper of it atm, but according to him it was maximum potential charge range that can cause terror if charge is declared.

    Cheers guys!

You test for terror immediately, before charge reaction is chosen and the charge distance is rolled.

1st For declaring a Charge, it must be a valid target.
    - Target is in the front arc of the charging unit
    - Target is in the line of sight of the unit, and there is enough space for your unit to positioning base to base.
    - Distance between target and charging unit can be covered by M+2d6". So the maximum range will be M+12.

2nd Once the charge is delcared
    - Terror causing panic check. If failed it counts as a Flee reaction
    - Charge reaction.
    - If target is fleeing, charging unit could redirect to another valid target if success a LD test
    - Resolve Charge Reaction.

3rd Once the previous points were resolved
    - Roll charge distance.
    - If the charge distance is enough you success the charge.
    - If not enough, or you just found something that block your way during the charge path. Charge is failed.

If you want a good tip. By turn 1 Cast Iceshard Blizzard to the Enemy General.
In turn 2 Charge with a Terror Causing unit against a Terror feeling unit ( Dont forget Stupid , Frenzied, ItP and fear units aren't afected). As the penalty to LD remains until the beginning of your next magic phase, which it has not started yet. :)

Best with bloodroar Carnie. It's just a cheap trick, dont expect to win the game with Terror. Only a bad deployment of your rival will allow you to get some Terror flee reactions.
