So, I came across to a really confusing situation moment ago... I wanted to search some inspiring images of Lizardmen standard bearer, but instead my eye caught this picture: I thought it might've been from some earlier edition but then I noticed the picture was from GW's website which got my attention completely. I went to the site which looked like this: I just thought "Hey maybe we've got something new to the Collectors section!" since that Have you got?- window suggested also that older looking Temple Guard. BUT when I went to see the Collectors section, there was only Tichi Huichi riders Am I just a retard and miss something or whaaat?
Havnt seen these guys before! I have following statements/speculations 1. They are updating their page and their webmaster made a booboo by not closing un-published pages to search engines. 2. Why would they make a TG command group outside the regular box? Because: changes in regular box! ...dual-kit infantry? Probably not -.- 3. If these are indeed newcomers I hope it means that TG's gets a ressurrection (just bought another 26unit, so im counting on it. I think you hit gold mate.... And now its time for someone to go "oh those guys...they are old" -.-
I found my way to it and hell yeah its strange. The current box says 10TG with FC .. Now you can buy Box1 5x tg Command inclusive And Box2 5 Tg ..each box almost cost the same as the current Box, meaning: you have to pay twice the amount for the same models??! Really GW ? This is how you do it?
Of course that's how they do it. It is GW. Those look to be the old metal command from an earlier edition. Are they plastic or metal?
That are the 6th edition Metal temple guard command box. I actually have that box. (Or maybe my box only had the command group's three models) Haven't seen it on the site since it was replaced by the plastic TG though.
At the risk of repeating myself, (I only ever repeat myself because of the effort required to come up with anything original)
Yep, definitely the old metal TG, just look at the weapons. I actually like certain elements of these guys and have been planning a converted TG unit for a while now. Just wanting to see whether they are going to be worth taking in the new book. My guess is that they will get a buff and the answer will be yes...
they dont actually feature on the GW website if you go onto it to look for them, however for some reason by following image links for old oop models that were originally hosted on the games workshop website it will bring you to their page. in the "have you got" bar on the side of the page it also displays other oop models, so i guess it just shows you the page exactly as it was when these models were in production. the only giveaway is the lack of a 'add to cart' or 'add to wishlist' button under the price, and if you scroll down to the bottom of the article where it should say 'availability: usually ships within __ hours' it will say out of stock. and yes they are the old (and far superior IMO ) temple guard models
I would agree with one exception. I like the plastic models for modifications just because I do not have to pin them to make major changes. I do like the sculpt a little better on the metal ones though.
Is it just me? I seem to notice that these 6th ed tg bigger than our current plastic tg. They look more robust.
Ahhh, there guys. I really miss them, they are easily some of my favorite models of all time and they are HUGE compared to normal saurus warriors, mostly due to their posture and armour, whereas the current TGs are just random saurus warriors with wannabe-skulls on their heads. I really hope they up their game with the next book.
Oh dear, I can't tell you how old this thread makes me feel, I have a unit of 20 of these guys (which are the 6th edition metal temple guard minis) but I also have 20 of the previous 5th edition metal TG as well (with the fifth edition Slann whose throne is carried by the TG rather than floating). I have three different Slann models from 5th, 6th and 7th edition respectively with three different units of Temple Guard. I'm not sure whether I like the 6th or 7th versions better, the 7th ones a plastic and IMHO have nicer weapons, but the skull helmets are really wussy compared to the 6th edition models and I really miss the enormous gold shoulder pads.
I find the opposite to be true. I have the special edition standard bearer from that set (instead of feathers there is a big metal plaque on top of the pole) and he is the same size as the current plastic saurus. He has sholder pads and the skull on his head, but other than that, he is the same. The current plastic temple guard are more robust through the torso than the metal. It may be that the standard bearer is just abnormally small (I don't have any other metal temple guard to compare to), but it definitely isn't any bigger than current saurus.
