As a result of listening to way too many warhammer podcasts, reading forums and re-imagining my army it's not too surprising that Lizardmen feature in my sleepy time thoughts. This was an oddly specific dream in that I fielded almost EXACTLY what is listed below and got off a ludicrous amount of magic somehow and won the game with a hulked out Mazdamundi. I'm not saying that Mazdamundi will ever win anything ever, but it was a pretty fun thought to have him smashing through some hard units with some steggy support. I don't want to disparage your prophetic dream army but I have thought. What if you dropped your Rare Steggies and gave your Skink Priests Ancient Stegadon mounts. Then you could use Smoke and Mirrors to swap Mazdamundi with his minions.
That could be HUGE in many situations! heres a thought: Does the Shadow attribute count as moving? Or else Mazda could move up, cast a spell, swap with a Ancient Steg who will then shoot its blowpipes without moving penalties!
Id suggest you choosing lore of light for Mazda. Aoe pha's protection is great for the monsters against warmachines, aoe ws10 i10 rocks, and aoe battle of light does boost steggies well( move maximum in first turn, 6 dice light of battle, next turn you smash in with 12+2d6 charge range! )
Light does sound tasty, and is quite fitting for the Lord of the Solar City. What are people's opinions about the 20/2 skink/krox units? Are they viable or should I drop them for skirmishers (yawn)?
You are better off with them. If you want to make an indipendent chaff unit, go for 10/1, krox for ld, thats all. I suggest you goint for skirmishers mostly, but cohort is almost as good as them, Id suggest fielding 2 or 4 of 10 stong cohort with musician, redirecting, baiting, and they do some damage aswell.
