Hi Folks Getting back into Warhammer so thought I would post up my initial thoughts for a 1k army. I should clarify that this list is just using what I already have models wise, will be adding new units slowly (fingers crossed Santa brings a Steggy! ) so I realise that there will be certain nobrainers that I need to pick up. My fluff is that this is a force from the city of Huatl which is in the process of being repopulated - will fit in with the slow burn of my collecting it! I will be primarily be up against Skaven, certainly for the first wee while anyway. The Host of Huatl (1001 points) Characters Scar Veteran Cuauhtémoc [Hero] riding Cold One Ahuitzotl Shield, Sword of Striking Skink Priest Itzcoatl [Hero] Cloak of Feathers, Upgrade to Lv 2 Wizard Core Units Saurus Champion Cuitláhuac and 23 Saurus Warriors Standard Bearer, Musician Skink Brave Acampichtli and 11 Skink Skirmishers 12 Skink Skirmishers The Hua Special Units 7 Cold One Cavalry Xa’kota’s Bane Standard Bearer, Musician Thanks for the thoughts!
Hey! your scar vet is named after me! Joking, but it really pleases me that someone else has thought about the LM more as Aztec then Mayan, I especially like your choice of names. ( ) As for the list, I would advise you to drop the brave and the champion unless you are using them to defend your heroes. (personally I think the whole purpose of a scar vet is to accept and initiate challenges...) Pretty nice list aside from that.
Hey Cuauhtémoc, I of course named him after you! I agree with your thoughts on the brave, was just using up points. The Scar vet is with the Cold Ones, so the Champion for the Saurus Warriors was to act as leader for that unit. Fought with the army last night for the first time and scored a resounding victory against the Skaven scum (roughly 1000pts to 0!). To put it into context though my opponent had never played WFB before and managed to combine that with some of the worst dice rolls in the history of existence! Still think it is a good base (the large Saurus unit was rock solid and the skirmishers did exactly what I wanted, with their shooting ironically being quite effective) and I am looking forward to getting to know them better.
