I think GW made a very strange move when they updated the kroxigors. The new sculpt is very neat and it has definitely grown on me, but the hell did they make them metal? Both the river trolls and the new minotaurs that came out at around the same time (as far as I remember, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) were plastic. It just bugs me that we have to pay so much more for more or less the same thing.

While I agree with you on this, it's only a matter of time until resin ones come out. In the mean time, you can get some pretty good deals on Bartertown and Ebay at times.

While it will make them slightly more convertable it will also make them a heck load more expensive.

About a year ago, I got 14 Kroxigors on ebay for around $40. Needless to say, I have plenty now.

    metal good....plastic bad!!!

I just love the feel and weight of metal models. And while 17,50 for a single metal krox sure is a rip off, 35 euros for 3 PLASTIC trolls is even worse.

anyway i got my entire army from marktplaats (dutch kind of ebay) for 80 euros, and it included 6 krox.
The only unit where metal is a mistake is terradons.

The whole discussion of metal vs plastic is debatable. Imo, it comes down to preference. The reason I stated the plastic is because with GWs full conversions to eventual resin, it has made the metal minis go up in price from a resale perspective. They are now being sought after for the same reasons - those who prefer metal over plastic. Another aspect that bothers me is from a shipping viewpoint. It is much cheaper to ship the plastic models which is often the case of a dertermining factor when I purchase used models from various outlets online.

So, all in all, point taken, yes. But as it's my preference, I thought I'd chime-in on the topic.

Since I've always been more into the hobby than the game I would love to see them in plastic as that expands the possibilities of modelling almost infinitely. Besides, I hate having two models look the same, especially large ones like the krox, so if I want more than four I'd have to do some extensive conversionwork which is almost impossible with my limited hobby resources.

And now that you mention it, why did they make the terradons metal too? It's like they're just smacking us conversion happy Lizardman collectors in the face, "Hey, we gave everyone new kits in plastic, except you. MOAHAHAHA!" Pisses me off.

Have to admit that from a conversion point plastics are indeed a blessing compared to metal.
But where possible i tend to add some serious weight to the models or bases.

i know the metal vs plastic debate will probably never be settled. The thing that pisses me of the most about plastics (apart from the weigth) is that the material is infinately cheaper than metal but you dont see it on the price tag.

I totally agree on the conversion aspect. And to Borkbork - yep, I agree there too! However, for those of us (like myself) who don't mind getting 2nd hand models, they are cheaper to buy and ship than the metal ones. But I'm with you in wishing that GW lowered their prices.. or at the least kept them where they were. But everything seems to be going up in price, just not my paycheck. :(
