Hey guys, sadly I have neglected this thread due to a lack of time and illness lately. I would really like it to be up to date and I don't want people going to the trouble of writing articles that don't make it in here. So I'm going to make this an open contribution thread, post the links of threads you think should be in here. We are looking for tactica threads mainly, but I know there have been a few fantastic in depth discussion threads around that would be a great read to new players such as the LM vs Skaven thread so feel free to contribute anything.

I will periodically update the original post and keep it in good order so eventually we do end up with a complete and awesome index, I will probably clean up the thread's extra posts as well but I will add an acknowledgement section at the bottom for people going to the trouble of puttingl inks in here. I also intend to update all the titles to contain the original author of the thread.

Hopefully this will see things get back in order and some of the really worthy threads get into here. Early this week I will hopefully have time to look around and find a few that haven't been added yet. Off the top of my head I know Hellbreaker's big deployment tactica needs to go in.

a good idea! just to check it out, I looked at the sallies section and observed, that the starting thread is obsolete (e.g. partial hits under flame template, march & fire not mentioned)
this will confuse people and generate unnecessary new posts with questions. Is there any chance to keep at least the starting threads in those links up to date? (I fear the answer is either "no", or "you go and do it"

)

Yeah the problem is pretty much all of it is out of date at the moment. The project got started, then 8th ed was announced and it was all put on hold since we knew everything would change, so really at the moment I think our best bet is categorising all of these threads as 7th ed and starting again... Then it really becomes a matter of whether people want to go to the energy of writing it all again.

I think a few solid discussion threads on topics that have been hotly discusses lately such as skink skirmishers vs ranks, saurus hand weapon vs spear, TG use, skrox use, Old Blood use would be a good start. Even I am still unsure about most of those things, its looking like a lot more options are useful and there is a lot less 'take this, not this' which is great, and should lead to some good discussions. Of course the big exception is 'take plenty of salamanders!'

Those tactica eat a lot of time and effort. And while I do have the time (uni's kind for me, for now). I'm
not (yet) very active on 8th edition...
We could make a few topics with a discussion which is narrowed down to 1 subject..? We'll have to see.

I think this could be a good basis for future tacticas. Each week we could have a topic that's open for general discussion (common unit sizes, character builds, uses for unit X, other common questions from new players), then one of us could use that information to write a summary of common opinions.

I am doing a tournament write up and will definitely post my thoughts. Maybe I can start a post here for that and allow general discussion. As for tactica, I have played against WoC in three games and with them for one, so I can write my first thoughts. Four games is not entirely enough for a tactica, but even a couple of us collaborate it could work.

We don't neccesarily need to have an indepth opening post... Just something like this is the topic of discussion, open up to everyone's ideas! Thats shouldn't be too hard to pull off and will make it less work on one individual person.

So... Topic ideas? What do we think is the most important question for LM generals in 8th ed to answer?

the 8th edition tactica posted should be linked here. i hate to be "that guy" but basically all the threads linked here are not valid any more and should be removed. either you should unsticky this thread and let it rest in peace, or update it (yes, i know it sucks. i was guild master in a wow raiding guild for 5 years, and i know the pain of having to update a forum so it is relevant

)

I agree with Lord Tsunami. The fact that I created the up to date 8th ed thread and am vain and competitive has nothing to do with my support for Lord Tsunami's statement
