Heya generals of the armies of the Lizardmen! Following Xlcontiqu's great idea of keeping all battle reports in a continuing plan, I have decided to follow suit. Xamitnal pushed the heavy golden doors open to the sacred Eternity Chamber of the Sun City, Hexoatl. The doors groaned with an ancient power. As he entered the room, a palpable air of power surrounded him as the doors closed around him and the darkness of peace swallowed him. Any other creature would’ve seen only empty, dead black, but to Xamitnal’s attuned Saurus eyes he saw the Slann; wielders of unfathomable power, in deep meditation. Their Eternity Warden, Kanuayeyab, a extremely capable warrior, yielded to Xamitnal’s ancient omnipotence and allowed entry. Xamitnal gently walked to end of the chamber to avoid disrupting his contemplative master’s slumber. As he reached the back of the room it was clear that the harbinger of the Great Plan, Lord Mazdamundi was the Mage-Priest who summoned him, his eyes staring at Xamitnal like the Coatl’s fangs. It seemed like only the past moon his eminence, Lord Mazdamundi had declared that the races of the world have strayed from the Great Plan. And that no further changes could be made to it, until the threat of Chaos was stilled and man was again caged in his boundaries. “Xamitnal, I have summoned you because now is the time for the unstoppable power of our race to combat the forces of Chaos once again. A power that has not stirred for over 10,000 years stirs again. The races of the world have strayed from the Old Ones Great Plan. The Great Plan shall be restored by the tread of the Saurus on all soil of the world, and the roar of the mighty Carnosaur. Woe to those who stand before our unstoppable might,” retorted Lord Mazdamundi. Xamitnal lowered his head to show his acknowledgement. The great Mage-Priest nodded, his bulbous fat swaying back and forth, the result of a life of only thinking. “And at the tip of the obsidian spear of our armies, shall be you Xamitnal. Your forces shall be the first into combat, and the first to display our might in over a millennia. You shall report to mighty and exalted Kroq-Gar, who will trail behind you with the rest of the army. As soon as the Moon waxes and wanes three times, you shall see the might of my indomitable armies on the horizon line, blotting out the sun from the mighty stegadons, and the skies blackened from our Terradons. Your army is being readied as we speak. You leave at this time tomorrow.” Writing my army report as you read!

Xamitnal looked across plain to horizon and surveyed his foe. Brilliant banners waved and flapped in the silent breeze. Units of heavily armored humans sat upon abnormal cold ones. He could see other human soldiers, but not in great detail. Though humans were created by the Old Ones, the stench of corruption by Chaos was writhing from the army. These Bretonnians, as his Lord Mazdamundi called them, had snuck into his camp, stealing a sacred plaque, obviously believing it to grant some sort of power or wealth to whoever possessed it. They would suffer severely at the hands of his armies. His skink attendant, Cho-Lot scurried up to him and squeaked “Sir, Zalchax is ready for your orders sir, are we to attack at sun down?” Zalchax was his finest Saurus he had ever commanded. Having an iron grip over battle tactics, Xamitnal could rely upon him to hold the battle line while he out-flanked his enemies, and then crush them with a devastating charge from his Carnosaur Xapati, after the the Old One of vengeance and war. Zalchax was also a supreme Saurus fighter, able to literally rip apart foe after foe and never falter. Xamitnal cared for nothing else except crushing his opponents in warfare, out thinking their pathetic human minds and following the completion of his lost god’s plans. He had never cared for anything else, only knowing warfare and battlefield tactics. “No. Order the army to be well fed and allowed to rest. We attack at the crack of dawn, with the sun behind us. We will use the the light of the rising sun on the plain to blind them and crush them,” growled Xamitnal. He watched his skink attendant scurry away in the receding sunlight to relay his orders. He mentally prepared himself for the battle ahead. The enemy commanders wouldn’t know what to expect from this army from the jungles, and would keep their men up all night waiting for the imminent attack. While they foolishly wait, his soldiers would be well rested and fed, already giving him an advantage in the coming battle. In the distance he heard the deep roar of the Stegadon Montazuma. Xamitnal knew his armies would be unstoppable on the morrow. As Xamitnal stood vigil on his hill he witnessed the moon being split in half by the horizon line. Soon. In his head a voice echoed, Xamitnal, now is the time to strike, order an immediate assault upon the young Bretonnians. By the Old Ones Great Plan withhold from completely decimating this army. They may be future allies. Xamitnal understood Mazdamundi’s orders and converged them to his slumbering skink attendant. As Cho-Lot rose from his sleep to give orders to Zalchax of the battle deployments that Xamitnal had given him last night. Xamitnal’s other skink attendants suited his battle armor upon his ancient Saurus body. His stone-like skin could deflect most blade attacks and any other deadly blade would be stilled by his armor. He watched as they armored his mighty Carnosaur, and stared only upon the enemy army across the plain, readying his mind for the monstrosities about to be committed. His skink attendants scrambled away his he swung himself upon Xapati, lest be crushed under the monster’s tremendous weight. He willed his mount forward and to very right flank of his army. He would position himself on the flank to draw away the Bretonnians most elite unit away from the center of the battle. He was confident his main battle line could withstand most of the Bretonnian force as he dealt with their elite, keeping his main battle line from collapsing. After he defeated the elite of their army he would charge into the fray, decimating all in his way, by collapsing their batteline. He heard a war drum in the distance and saw the Bretonnians marching in their wake. To his front was a beautifully decorated unit of knights, obviously the most elite of their army. Suddenly, a human in the front of the unit blew a horn and the steeds in the unit bucked and pushed forward. With a sound like rolling thunder, the knights pounded across the field. Great clots of grassy muddy dirt were thrown up in the heroic charge. Xamitnal almost laughed, these humans knew not that their doom was sealed. He kicked Xapati in the gut with his spiked saddle and the creature charged forward with a fury not seen for a century. Xapati’s every step caused mini earthquakes, rolling across the battlefield striking terror in their foes. Xapati reared his carnivorous head and let loose a bellow to chill even the most courageous of warriors. As Xamitnal urged Xapati forward a knight from charging elite unit in front of him stepped out. As the distance between him and knight closed, Xamitnal’s slow moving and calm mind set became one of pure destruction. The sun invigorating him from behind he took his blinded foe by surprise and vaulted his spear straight through champions breastplate. Xapati smashed his jaws down upon the fallen warrior mangling his body before tossing it straight into the air. As the warriors of Bretonnia saw their champion ripped apart in front of their eyes, terror struck into their hearts, and they turned tail and ran. Xapati and Xamitnal became a single being a terrifying frenzy and tore after the knights in flight. When the gap closed between the two units, all hell broke loose. Xapati bit the head of one knight and Xamitnal broke heads open with his scimitar, as Xapati smashed a knight under his foot, Xamitnal dived from his mount and was upon the last fleeing knight and squished his helmet between his powerful claws. As the knight became mountless he stood up to Xamitnal in a last stand for his life. He lashed out with his sword and Xamitnal grabbed him at the elbow and broke it, and swung his massive Saurus leg into the side of his knee. He heard the familiar sucking swish sound as cartilage tore. Xamitnal bashed in the head of the fallen man. As he charged once again into the fray on his main battleline he noticed that one Saurus legion and been broken and ran down. The second he saw this he became rage incarnate and tore through any that got in his way. Before he knew it, he was surrounded by only his mount and fellow Lizardmen. The day was his. Now to find the sacred plaque amongst the carnage. At the end of the day, victory for the Lizardmen! I won by 1000 victory points because I ran down his grail knights and smashed his central battle line with the Carnosaur Lord. I kept most of his knights away from my saurus blocks with skinks and terradons, but eventually he multi-charge two knight units in the saurus and ran them down. I charged the Carnosaur into the flank of one of those units, and allowed my Saurus and kroxigors free reign upon the rest of the armies knights.
Well-written! Great report! It sounds like a great game, the Carnosaur Lord being able to wreak knight units with the high number of high strength attacks. Sounds like almost a perfect matchup against Bretonnia. His lack of a Trebutchet probably cost him dearly in the end. I would love a little more detail of the battle, but keep the reports coming!
Thank you! It was a very fun game. I look to improve on my next battle report, by writing from two different leaders, the Oldblood and the Scar Veteran, to fully scope out the details of the battle! By the way, what program do you use to record the movements and terrain of the battles? I saw the pictures on your thread.
I use the Lorenz Battle Server. It is not really a program, more of a system to play games. It requires a one-time payment of about $7, but you could use it to create good battlefield pictures too.
The Sun was setting in the distance, causing a golden glow among the entire forest. It had been over two months since he had routed the Bretonnians and they marched onward, looking for the betrayer elf army Mazdamundi had telepathically told him lay ahead. Xamitnal contemplated upon the battle between Kroq-Gar and Dalziel the Beheader. The Chaos Lord had stolen one of the sacred plaques and Kroq-Gar had been sent to retrieve it with his armies. The trap Krog-Gar had setup for Dalziel was one of the most tremendous military tricks he had seen. Only being a Saurus Legion leader back then, he was amazed as Dalziel ran straight for the gold Krog-Gar had left in the middle of the battlefield. When the holes they had dug in the ground opened up, sending Dalziel and his followers fell straight into an impaling death. Why the humans ran straight for gold was unknown to Xamitnal, but the trick had worked. That had been over a 1,000 years ago, many of those soldiers there killed in various ways. Feeling a pang of sorrow at being one of the older Saurus left, he dismissed it. Feelings of sorrow could only hurt his resolve. He stood up, waiting for his scouting party to return, his attuned Saurus ears heard a disturbance in the distance and immediately he snatched his scimitar from its resting place and sprinted straight toward the sound. As the trees raced past him he became aware of the Dark Elf rider in front of him, holding the heads of his skinks that had been scouting for the dark elf army he knew that was before him. Below him lay the mutilated bodies of his warriors, obviously tortured and were fated to a slow and horrible death. Letting out a terrifying cry of rage, he charged the elf. With incredible speed the elf reacted back, trying to kill quick and dirty. His knife suddenly unsheathed and flying straight toward his throat Xamitnal spun, knowing that the elves’ move was a feint. His real move was kicking out his knee. There were a dozen ways he could react to this and each was more brutal then the next. Deciding on the most brutal one, in vengeance for his fallen soldiers, twisting, he let the blade slide into his shoulder. The elf smiled an evil grin, thinking victory and as he went in for the kill, Xamitnal ducked and slammed his scimitar straight into the side of the elves head, brains splattering the virgin forest. Taking the elves head, Xamitnal ran back to camp. Grabbing his war drum he pounded on the leather ten times, signaling for the army to be mustered. There are scions of Chaos to be defeated.
