The point of this thread is simple really. I'm trying to figure out how powerful the slann really is in the magic phase. For the purpose of this excercise I'm going to post my Slann that I use, the number of power dice he has and the number of dispel dice, and any perks. You the good people of Lustria-online, most post your usual magic setup - so we can try and devine that on average, who would come out on top. Slann or ? I'm not talking List tailoring here, purely what units you use for magic (if any) in a 2000 Point game.

The slann comes with 4+ ward as standard, and I pick the following disciplines.

    Focus of Mystery
    Focus of Rumination
    Soul of Stone

Granting me a Reroll on miscasts chart, all the spells from 1 lore, and a extra power dice for every spell I cast. 6 Power Dice. 4 Dispel Dice.

Now what do you use for your average list for magic ? How would the slann stack up vs enemy magic ? What do you use ? Would a slann be able to overwhelm a lvl2 mage's defences ? 2 lvl2's ? Let the games begin! Lets see what you guys use.

I use a lv 3 high elf archmage with 5 dispel scrolls. This gives me 4 DD with +1 to dispel, 5 scrolls, plus that I cast Drain magic every turn. :D

This is my vampire count lord:
    Lord
    -+1 level
    -+1 level power
    Total Lvl:4
    -hellsteed
    -heavy armor, and sheild power
    -+1 attack per wound power
    -auto hitting lance item
-3+ward against range or ill give him a 4+against all and stupidity

that guy has a reasonable magic phase when compared to your slann but can own stuff in CC

A normal magic heavy VC lord will have the potential to have 6+2pool+1from item then +1 to casting/dispeling and +1 to casting ION on certain units

But i normaly field the first one with 2 caster vamps and 1 CC lord which=2LVL 2 and 1 LVL1 wizard +the lord for probably 11+1 if i use the item

Well yeah, it aught to cost more if you're putting it on something with better stats to begin with. A saurus with +1 strenth is better then a human with +1 strength.

you see i still rate a slann over a high elf mage,
one thing my slann can hide in the middle of a unit and still cast magic,
is t4 and has a ward fro free and is automatically a lv4

    and for magic stopping,
ile take my cube with a 1in 2 (3 in 6) chance of ending the magic phase and stopping all remain in plays :D

and why waste scroll on high level wizards, thats what scroll caddies exist for
