Hey all, I've been reading posts on this site randomly over the past few weeks and I really like what I've seen!

I like the lizardmen playstyle and I think I'm going to start playing them if I play WHFB.

Here's the problem, I don't really live in an area with tons of players and I'd probably just get down to a GW once a month or every two. I know that 40k players vastly outnumber WHFB players (it seems like its like 4:1, but maybe I'm really off...), if I get into WHFB I just want to be sure I'd be able to find some opponents for the few times I'm able to play. Do you guys notice the player number difference between 40k and fantasy? Does GW favor 40k? Do any of you wish you had chosen to play 40k instead for some of the reasons I've mentioned.

Thanks so much for any responses.

Tends to vary a lot from store to store, also a lot of player don't play in the store,
but rather at a club or at each others houses.

Yeah its really going to depend on your local area. Worldwide, I'd say there are probably more 40k players. Don't start buying up 40k just to have more opponents though; either way you won't be able to stick with it if you don't actually like what you are collecting. See if you can get a few trial games to see how both systems play.

In my gaming group, we used to be exclusively 40k during 3rd ed. We disliked 4th, so switched to WHFB and have stuck with that since with maybe 1-2 40k games per year.

Awesome, thanks for the responses guys. I'm sure there are enough WHFB players out there to keep me busy! LIZARDMEN IT IS

Do you guys have any tips for finding gaming groups or leagues? Is there a website or something that lots of people advertise their groups on?

If you have a local game/hobby/comic shop that would be what I hit up first. Also, you stated that you have a GW somewhere in your vicinity. Usually employees of these places will know who plays, where they're from and if they have special league nights, etc as they need to connect to the community to ensure successful sales.

Like everyone says, it varys alot. But 40k is without a doubt more popular.

Try to find a sweet spot, like a couple of guys who regualry play. Home games etc.

    ---

WHF has magic phase, troops. And therefore make it a more strategic game.

People say its alot of randomness/luck. And yes it is, but i see a parallel between poker. At first it looks like luck, but that cant explain why same people keep on winning.

Lizardmen are fun to play, have variaty of ways to play them. And there are good. Tough for any oponnent.

    Hello,
I've decided not to start a new topic just to ask one question, so I planted it here:)
I have an opportunity to by the Lizardmen Armydeal that was released with the 6th ed!!! (Yup i live in the stoneage:) This Armydeal is in a hobbystore, and its almost new, exept it has 2 out of 3 kroxigors.
The Armydeal looks like this: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?522967-FS-Warhammer-Lizardman-amp-Warriors-Of-Chaos-Army-Deals-Mint
Here is the thing, I have only 20 saurus and 40 Skinks, soo boosting them up with another 32 saurus and 24 Skinks should be interesting, Chamelon skins are nice too, since almost ungettable. I have mixed feelings about 2 Old edition Kroxigors and 5 old CoC, The skink priest and 2 heroes are quite nice and I can always find some place for them:) Now the price should be significantly droped since its a)decompleted b) out of Date c) It just lays there for I don't know how many years:)

Sounds like a good deal. I actually like the old Kroxigors. I have 9-10 of them and then 3 or 4 new ones. I like the old ones better as they look more like the beasts of burden that they are supposed to be.

Several months ago, I saw the Wood Elf Betallion on sale for $45 bucks. I was buying some VC models from a guy on craigslist and did not get the betallion. I regret doing that.
