Hey everyone! So I got redirected here from r/Warhammerfantasy and was hoping i could get some feedback on my first ever fantasy list! Heroes: 226 Scar-Vet, Light Armor, Enchanted shield, Sword of Striking, Luck Stone Skink Priest: Level 2 (can't decide what lore) Core: 559 10x Skink Skirmishers, Blowpipes and hand weapon (Priest will go here) 19x Saurus Warriors, Full Command, Spears (Scar-Vet is here) 20x Saurus Warriors, Full Comand, Spears Rare: 230 Ancient Stegadon, Giant Blowpipes Total: 1000 The great news with this list is aside from the Scar-Vet i haven't bought anything here so I am pretty flexible with what I bring though I would prefer at least one Big Dino as eventually i kinda want to field my own little Jurassic park. All help is much appreciated and thank you in advance!
Javelins are far and above the better option for the skirmishers. Quick to fire really helps their chances of hitting. Otherwise not a bad list.
I wouldn't say they're absolutely better. It's pretty situational to me. The blowpipes offer you the potential to get up close and dish out 20 shots, most likely hitting on 6s. But that's all you really care about anyway since you have poison. Javelins are pretty solid all around. You're usually always hitting on a 5+ but you only have the option of getting off 10 shots. Plus now your Skinks have a better armor save. The gravy is that Javelins can always Stand and Shoot. It's definitely tit for tat. The forum has been pretty split abut it in the past. The good news on your part is that you haven;t bought anything yet! So when you buy your first box of skinks, model half as blowpipes and have as javelins! Then try them both out. And welcome to L-O!!!
I was already thinking about doing this with the skink box but i had my doubts since i am so used to army books ending up being this one thing is in every way better then the other. It is weird actually having options that seem to have no right answer! Also lucky for me since I am planning on playing this with just friends and at my FLGS right now, nothing really needs to be fully WYSIWYG in terms of exact equipment, though we do try and keep it that way but there is a lot of modeling for the sake of looking cool.
