So i was reading the BRB and figured, the slaan has under a unit str of 5 and counts as infantry so can i not throw him in a building and just have him channel spells/cast spell from the building? This would keep him safe from most enemy fire and the chances of someone actually assaulting the building are very slim. What do you guys think?
Yeah sure. I don't know about your area, but here we hardly ever use buildings in WHFB though.. And the problem is he would be easier to charge since an opponent only needs to be able to reach the closest corner of the building, including base, to be able to charge you. Even with the defence, a lone Slann is a lone Slann. Still probably would be safer than most places outside a TG unit and would give him good range and LoS.
well 10 TG and a slann in a bulding would be very very nasty. per level of building you are allowed to put 5 models near a " window" and so have los all around. when charged, well the slann drops back, there is no reall coherency in a building.
nope: it says that characters, champions or other models that can NORMALLY be singled out if they were in base contact, are involved in the fight, up to us of 5 models can choose to attack them.. so no he is placed back and only the TG will fight..the same with skaven rule"lead form back"
I don't know much of the rules (yet) but placing him behind a building seems like simple logic since you can't charge the building and you would have to go around it?
Problem there is the building would completely block his line of sight, which would be a bad thing. And an enemy unit could choose to enter the building rather than going around, in which case they would basically get point blank shots at him if they had shooting and the following turn they could come out and attack him. Really, nowhere is 100% safe. You just have to look at the field and your unit placements and choose a good enough spot for him based on that. If my toad was ethereal or there wasn't any artillery, I would stick him in a forest close to the edge, there isn't a lot that will happily venture in after him and he can still see out or withdraw into the woods if threatened. That is if there wasn't a nice big TG unit of course.
