Ok, so since spring I have been around here, giving advice and generally being all well-versed in my Lizardmen knowledge without even a single game under my belt. While I always try to use sayings like "I think" and "In my opinion", it's still pretty ballsy to make others think that I actually know something. So, now has come the time to right that wrong! Next weekend, I have a game coming, it's against my friend's Bretonnias which he started collecting around the same time as me and so far has played only one 1000 point game (yesterday, actually). I will come at him with everything I got, and by my calculations, that'll be around 1350-1400 points. Any advice and criticism is appreciated, but remember, this is all I got, so I cannot add any units or models. Lords: (325) Slann, Lore of Life, Rumination, Battle Standard Bearer, Dispel Scroll Heroes: (273) Scar-Veteran on Cold One, Light Armor, Shield, Burning Blade of Chotec Skink Priest, lvl 2 upgrade, Cube of Darkness Core : (355) 20xSaurus Warriors, Hand Weapon, Shield, Full Command 12 Skink Skirmishers, Blowpipes Special: (367) 7xCold One Cavalry, Full Command 6xChameleons Skinks Rare: (80) 1x Salamander, extra Skink Total: 1400 I mostly need advices on the magic items. In the last game, my opponent wielded only one mage, so I'm expecting on having magical supremacy. Is Cube of Darkness too much, then? Should I ditch it along with a Skink to make the Slann ethereal? Also, should I wield him alone or put him into the Saurus Unit? Thank you in advance.
I would definately drop cube of darkness, as with life you are gonna have a lot of spells active, therefore the cube will do more bad than good, I would instead take cupped hands on the slann, so you can give his only mage your first miscast to hopefully take him out early on. Alternatively you could take the divine plaque of protection or ethereal for more protection.
Thanks for the the advice, Wistrel. Yeah, maybe the Cube is a bit too much. I'm more inclined to take the Etherealness. Bretonnian heroes have a variety of magical lances, in addition to normal array of magical weapons, but do you know if their normal troops have magical weapons? Although, with the Ward and Lifebloom, Slann is pretty well protected. I'm also really interested in the Loremaster Discipline, as I'm notorious on never getting the spells I want. Decisions, decisions...
