Out of interest, and the fact i've just bought the battlion in preperation, anyone heard any rumours as to what we can expect from Tomb Kings in the form of new models, rules anything at all? Also on a similar idea, what would people like to see? Here are my thoughts: 1) a plastic screaming skull would be nice. 2) tomb guard, again plastic but also seeing as they are suppose to be elite troops, i would like to see either +1 Str and WS, or maybe halberds as a weapon choice for +1 Str. adjusting points accordingly. 3) better armour for the "heavy" cavalry choice as standard 4) settras points cost lowered a bit to make him open for 2k lists. 5) Chariot upgrade options, such as Scyhes for +1 Str on the charge for impact hits What are peoples thoughts on my ideas and any of your own? Yours Aye Mixer
Agreed. The TK metal stuff can be tricky to assemble. I would like to see some decent cavalry to supplement the chariots (which are awesome, but expensive). Also, take out the Icon bearer and put a decent character in to replace it, or omit it altogether. TK already have good characters.
Ok, just for peoples info, the rumours at my GW store, some input from staff are: Plastic Bone Giant Plastic Tomb Guard Plastic Ushabti in a box of three, like trolls and minotaurs And finally a plastic dual kit, like the skaven WL cannon/Plagueclaw, consisting of Screaming Skull and a new war machine, odds say some sort of bolt thrower type thing. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!! My skeleton hordes are massing, just need to see the new models before buying the rest. i.e ushabti, giant, tomb guard etc. I also agree about the Icon Bearer, i like the models but would like to see BSB as a simple 25 point upgrade for say a prince. Characters are all good but could be nice to have a liche high preist character. Yours Aye Mixer
A sphinx would be really cool. I guess it would be another rare choice. On a related note, another change I think ought to be made would be to make the casket of souls a bit cheaper, as I really like the idea behind it but have never found it to provide value for points.
agree about the casket. A Sphinx?! Not heard anything about that? got anymore info? Is that, if it happens, going to be Ushabti sized or nearer Hell pit abomination size? Yours Aye Mixer
I have no 'official' info. I have seen rumors posted on other sites (again, nothing set in stone). The last thing I remember hearing about it was that it would be similar to the giant spider that just came out for the goblins.
hmmmmm, not sure what to think about it now, not sure it fits in with TK's, but i guess not long to wait and find out now.
The preview models are up on the GW site: https://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?aId=14300091a&_requestid=61899 Or those could be old models.
Having actually given the new O&G book a real proper read through I discovered something that might be a sign of something to come for the Tomb Kings Goblin Wolf Chariots can be taken in Units of one to three models. They are still special units, but if the O&G get a unit in which every model does d6+1 impact hits why wouldn't the Tomb Kings, who are supposedly renowned for there chariot use, get the same but with the benefit of having it in core if an actual king is taken as a lord choice? So the thought is essentially this: Perhaps the TK chariots will do the full d6 impact hits with the next book.
Re: Tomb Kings In May!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well TK chariots are only "light chariots" in the book, which suggest they are built for speed rather than impact, hence why its only D3 hits. But i agree, i would like to see some upgrades to allow D6 impact hits. could call it "reinforced chasis" or something like that, and also scythes for the +1 hits, just like goblin chariots. Rumours seem to say there is going to be new heavier chariots in may, whether thats true or not is anyones guess. Yours Aye Mixer
Yes, we're likely to get a sphinx for the Tomb Kings. Big monsters and 'flying' vehicles are the order of the day for these editions of Fantasy and 40K, you can already see the trend emerging. The Skaven got the Hellpit Abomination and the Orks got the Arachnarok, and the guys at my local GW store say the TK are getting a sphinx, and I have no reason not to believe them. While in the case of 40K, the Dark Eldar got the new fighter and bomber, while Space Marines got the Stormraven.
Don't remember where I heard this so its grain of salt time (as per usual with rumours) but it was mentioned that the giant Sphinx was NOT in the army and was replaced with another giant scorpion thing, as in bone giant sized scorpion.
While we can now see that there's a sphinx, that doesn't necessarily mean they won't have a big scorpion too. While the Orks got the Arachnarok, and Skaven the Hellpit Abomination, they didn't lose any of their old big things, like Doomwheels or Wyverns. So I could see the TK's having both sphinxs and scorpions.
So the blackshirt of my local GW store was in Memphis earlier in the week, and he picked up an army book while he was there... so who wants some spoilers? I didn't get a lot of time to look at it, so I can't take requests. I'm pretty much tellingg you everything I remember in one go, which isn't much to be honest. Queen Khalida so longer gives Poisoned Attacks to all the archers in her army now, just the unit she's with. But said unit also gets to benefit from her Ballistic Skill of 3. Which means that they all have an unmodifiable roll of 4+ to hit. There's a special rule called Entombed Beneath the Sands, not everyone has it, but I do remember that Swarms do, and I think the Sepulchural Stalkers do too, can't remember who else. It basically works like deepstriking in 40K. Speaking of the Stalkers, their special 'gaze' attack that was hinted at in the spoilers so far works basically like a shooting attack that uses an enemy's Initiative instead of their Toughness. Though I'm pretty sure the Strength of the attack is fairly low. Still, for Lizardmen, that's not good. Their magic works like normal magic now, can't remember their Lore power but the last rumour I heard was that every successful spell cast lets them raise a small random number of models. I do remember one of their spells, which gives Killing Blow to a whole unit, or if it already has Killing Blow (Or Heroic Killing Blow) it goes off on a 5 or 6. That's all I remember for now.
My local hobby manager got the book, and I've had a pretty thorough look through it, so feel free to ask questions, I'll try my best to answer them. For now, though, I'll tell you about things that are IMO cool/important. Skeleton warriors and Skeleton archers are seperate choices now; Chariots are more expensive, always Core, inflict D6 impact hits each, and add the number of ranks in the unit to the strength of the impact hits; there's no such thing as a bone giant anymore, they call them Necrolith Colossi and they're now just giant statues; just like in the O&G book, I can count the number of Tomb Kings specific magic items on two hands; the Casket of Souls is just a rare choice, not a character upgrade, and now it also gives you D3 extra power dice every friendly magic phase; and there's a new special character: Arkhan the Black, Lieutenant of Nagash, who is a level 5 wizard. No, that wasnt a typo, it literally says in the book that he's a level 5 wizard. Wow, I thought GW got rid of that with Zacharius the Everliving when the 7th edition Vampire Counts book came out. So yeah, if you have any questions just ask.
Thanks for the great info. I think GW is being silly by making Arkhan a level 5 wizard (I mean if Arkhan is a level 5, then what should Mazdamundi be???!?!) Do you happen to know what kind of save(s) the sphinx has?? cheers
In the new book, all animated constructs have a 5+ armor save, including the two sphynxes; thanks to this, with the help of skink shooting those two nasty monsters just got a lot less scary.
Have the book in my hands, I´ll be please to answer anything... lizards is my first army, tomb kings is my second army... Arkhan is a level 4 wizard, with an item that makes him 5 level wizard, he doesn´t have the loremaster ability, he only has lore of Death (priest can have Lore of Nekhara, Light and Death), if by any means this magic item is destroyed he loses this "extra" level and a randomly spell. The Stalkers are Lizardmen Killing machines!!! The spells are way good... pretty much the same everyone posted here before me... Ah, chariots are little up in point (do know if I can post the points of stuff), they do 1d6 S4 impact hits + +1 S for ranks the unit has... they don´t do supportin attacks, but their riders has 2 attachs each, so 6 attacks per base. The necrosphinx is a Stegadon/Monster killing machine! Well, cheers, any doubts just ask (and confirm to me if I can post point costs)
