Hiya This will be my 1st time playing with my Lizardmen This is my current Idea of a list: 1 x Saurus Scar-Veteran - Biting blade + Helm of Itza 1 x Bastiladon - Solar Engine 5 x Chameleon Skinks - Stalker 10 x Saurus Warriors - Full command, HW + Spear 499points Any ideas? Anything I need to be aware of? Oh my opponent will be playing Vampires or Skaven I believe. Thanks in advance
Looks like a fun list for your first match. ... oh with only 10 saurus you won't be needing spears. they really only start helping when you have 15. don't worry if you modeled them with spears, just let your friend know that they count as hand weapons this match.
Yeah not a bad little list for 500 pts One thing I would do is drop the stalker and take one more saurus, every wound counts at this army size Also drop the biting blade for light armour and shield for your scar vet. give him a 2+/6++
OK thanks guys that was one of the best games. So my mate surprised me playing Dark elves He went 1st and his Doom bolt took out my 10 skinks and my priest. Then my Bastilladon took out his witch on a winged thing. He then Flanked my Saurus's with 2x10 witch elves on the side and warlocks at my front. Took out all but 2 Saurus then I fled. So then all his models turned and all came at my only model left which was my Bastilladon. I just kept chipping away and took out his entire army with it I lost a single wound A fantastic 180 turn out of the game Thanks for the advice
These small battles often swing very violently, the loss of single models matter a lot for the distribution of power on the board. In larger games (2000P) you will find that you can lose units and still keep on fighting, even though losing units is never fun. Also, certain units can be extremely strong simply because they cannot be countered at this point level, the bastiladon is one of these units. I hope you learned a lot from this game and that you look forward to real battles!
I've been running a lot of little lists lately. There is no problem with your list (though I prefer to fill my core with 2 groups of 10 skirmishers. If you play again and he does bring VC or Skaven, my best advice is to either take the crown of command on the scar vet, or do not let him get into combat with any big blocks. He may be invincible in combat, but he can (and will) lose to combat res. There is nothing worse than losing your general to a block of slaves. I learned this lesson the hard way. Don't repeat my mistakes.
