Hey guys I'm about to try out the Slann for the first time and I want as invincible as possible. This is my build for 2000 points and the Slann will be within a TG unit. I'm wondering if this is an unnecessary amount of protection? Slann; Higher State of Consciousness (only magic attacks), Focused Renumeration (free power dice), Becalming Cognition (remove 6s), Unfathomable Presence (magic resistance 3), Cupped Hands of the Old Ones (almost no miscasts), BSB. =495 Cheers.
Way too much protection if in a unit of TG. MR is almost useless in current rules but cut down to MR2 as suggested as the extra point of MR will not help slann as a ward of 1+ works like 2+ as 1 is always a fail. With look out sir it is almost impossible to hit slann in unit except with magic. Getting all the magic spells is way more useful than the protections, it also makes most use of the extra die per spell.
If he's in the temple guard unit you really don't need higher state either. If the whole unit gets taken down enough that somebody is actually swinging at the slann, they'll probably be using a magic weapon anyway. Between the lookout sir and his natural ward save, he should be fine against even cannons.
This has been bothering me for a while, but... do you really get Look Out, Sir save against cannons? Please clarify.
Yes, you do get a look out sir roll from cannons. As long as there are at least 5 rank and file models (3 for brett cavalry and Ogres).
I second that, hes overly safe. In TG I tend to run him Rumination, Becalming Cognition, BSB. Safe and reasonably cheap at 350 pts.
Thanks guys, some good comments. I think i'll definitely cut back a bit and save some points. What slann builds do you run yourselves at 2000 points? Thanks.
Rumination, Mystery, Cupped Hands, Standard of Discipline BSB and MR2 if I feel I'm going to fae a lot of Magic missiles.
