8th Ed. Tray Sizes for my 3000 pt army

    I plan to run 4 blocks of Saurus. I am thinking 6x4 or 5x5 and can't make up my mind. Which is a more logical size of tray to make?

    I am thinking of putting 26 Temple Guard with my Slann. I like their hitting power and survivability. Am I stupid? Should I minimize the TG and keep the Slann behind my Saurus wall or abreast of it?

    Are you running your Saurus with Spears or with HW + Shield?

    I think spears work best with frontage of 6 wide. Temple guard are awesome, but they don't have any better survivability than saurus. If you're running a Slann with lore of life though you should be able to keep the unit intact and heal them as you go.

    I was thinking 2 blocks of hw/S 5x5, and 2 blocks of spear and shield 6x4.

    I reduced my TG to 20 to fit in an EOTG.

    I think that sounds pretty good. What else is in your army? How big is your army?

    I wouldn't recommend Life for a list this big. It works really well when there are few units on the board, but when you end up with 3+ large groups in combat does giving one of them 1d6+1 models back going to make that big of a difference? I've always found Light works better when you are running several large blocks of saurus.

    I think Life is still viable for the simple fact that ToV will keep your Slann from suffering in the miscast. Also it's amazingly effective to bring back models after your opponent kills them off. They get frustrated and it'll keep your Lizardmen stuck in longer.

    Also TG have amazing amount of survivability. That one extra armour save makes all the differance in the world. Sometimes it might even be the differance between an armour save and no armour save.
