8th Ed. true or false salamander question

Can salamanders fire their flaming attack in close combat? I heard it some where yet I can't find it in their sections of the army book, can anybody cast some light on this otherwise silly question? Thanks peeps .

No he can not.

While it says "...determine hits like a Breath Weapon" it is not in fact a true "Breath Weapon". It is a Ranged attack.
