I played a really interesting game against Dark Elfs the other day. Thought I should give a report about it. I have no pictures but hope it works anyway. Lizardmen list: 20 saurus 15 TG 2x 12 skirmishers 7 CoC + CO-scarvet 1 priest Dark Elf list: 40 spears 10 black guards 14 executioners + master 20 x-bows 1 hydra 1 bolt thrower 1 sorceress 'bout 1350pts each Deploy: Pretty standard deploy i guess. from left to right, Lizzies: Skinks - TG - CoC - Priest - Saurus - Skinks and Dark Elfs: exec - Sorceress - Spears - bolt th. - x-bows - black guard - hydra Turn 1 - Laizards! Movement: I march forward with everything. Magic: I try to cast chainlightning with my priest but gets dispelled. DE player doesn't have any dispelldice left so i go over to my scar-vet and use his blood statuette on the sorceress, she suffers 2 out of 3 Wounds. Turn 1 - Dark Elfs: No charges. Movement: He moves his Blackguards to intercept my saurus in a "bottleneck" between a ruin and a forest. His hydra takes one step closer to the same ruin. Magic: The sorceress casts pendulum from lore of shadow at my TGs but stops 1 inch ahead of them! No more casting. Shooting: The Bolt th. killes one of my CoC. The x-bows takes another 2. Turn 2 - Laizards! My CoC field thier stupidity test so no charges this turn. Movement: I move up closer, my skinks on the right flank moves around the ruin to intercept the hydra. I hide the priest in a small forest at the middle of the table. Magic: After a epic-bad wids of magic roll I get 2PD and the DE channles one and also gets 2DD.. I cast Blizzard on the x-bows but gets dispelled (suprising?) Shooting: Left flank skinks throw thier sticks at the exec. but fail to kill anyone. Right flank skinks makes a wound on the hyrda. Turn 2 - Dark Elfs: No chagers (the coward!) Movement: the hydra turns back around, ignoring my skinks and moves up to the blackguards. otherwise nothing. Magic: The sorceress tries again with pendulum, but fails the cast (alot of 2s). no more casting. Shooting: the bolt th. takes another CoC and the x-bows 1 too. (just champ + standard and scarvet left now, damn stupidity!) Turn 3 - Laizards! Charge!!! TG to exec, CoC to spears, saurus to blackguards. Movement: left flank skinks move it to kill the sorceress. The right flank skinks follows the hydra. Magic: Chainlightning - dispelled. Shootning: Skinks killes the sorceress, no wonds on the hydra.. regen! Close combat: TG kills 9 out of 14 Exec. Exec kills 5TG, the master kills 3. The exec fails their LD-test and flees, my TG tramples them to the ground. The CoC kills one spearman, and my scar-vet another one. The Spears doesn't kill anyone. The CoC is brave enough to stay in combat. The Blackguards kills one saurus, and the saurus kills one blackguard. The guards fail thier leadership-test aftera horrible roll of the die (5+6) and they flee, my saurus persue and kills them. Turn 3 - Dark Elfs: Movement: The hydra moves up behind my saurus that are far behind the enemy lines by now. Magic: no magic since the sorceress is dead. Shooting: My skink preist takes a full 40 shots from the x-bows, and not even a forest is cover enough for that. He goes down looking lika a pin cushion! My Temple Guads that are now in perfect line with the Bolt Thrower gets a bolt right in the flank, killing 4 (out of 5 possible :S ) only 3TG left now. The hydra gets a nice diagonal hit on my saurus warriors, killing 9 (only 10 left all of a sudden!). Close combat: The Spears doesn't manage to kill anyone. neighter does my CoC, but my scar-vet kills two. After an insanely bad roll of the dice (6+6+5) my CoC flees the combat. Only to be cought by the spears, again really bad roll (2+3+2). The spears runs in to my skirmisher unit. Turn 4 - Laizards! Movement: I reform the TGs and move closer to the Bolt th. I reform my saurus to face the hydra. My right flank skinks moves up behind the hydra. Magic: no my caster is dead to... cry. Shooting: The hydra gets a bunch of spears in its back, wounding once. Close Combat: My poor skinks on the left flank gets a hell of a beating, all died!. Turn 4 - Dark Elfs: Charge: The hydra charges my saurus. Movement: the Spears reform and moves back towards my TG. The x-bows reform to face my saurus. Shooting: The Bolt th. shoots my TG, killing my champ (who has the Ironcurse icon!). They passes the panic test. Close combat. The hydra kills 3 Saurus and the saurus does 1 wound to the hydra. Turn 5 - Laizards: Charge: My skinks throws themselfs bravely into combat to aid thier saurus brethren againts the horrible beast that is the hydra! The drummer ant the standardbearer whos left in the TG unit charges the Bolt th. Movement: nothing to move. Shooting. nothing to shoot with. Close Combat: The Saurus manage to take another wound on the hydra (only one to go now!). But the Skinks fails to wound it, damn reg-save! The hydra kills 2 more saurus. The TGs kills one of the crew to the Bolt th. All break tests are passed. Turn 5 - Dark Elfs: Charge: the 36spears charges my 2 TG in the flank. Movement: nothing moves. Shooting: nothing shoots. Close combat: The Spears kills my TG. The hydra kills another 2 saurus, and I'm unable to kill it! The saurus and the skinks both breaks and flees. War hydra hunts down the saurus. Turn 6 - Lizardmen: I've already lost, but i try to rally my skinks, it fails and they continue to flee. Turn 6 - Dark Elfs: My oponent offers to by me a Coke... Whent so well at the beggining! Lousy magic thou. I say I lost due to the failed stupidity test, but I know my list aint that good at the moment (since I play with the only thing I got ). Learnd some interesting things and I had lots of fun! Hopefully my next report will be of a victory! (why I reports a loss is because you learn more for a loss then a win!) Hope you enjoy my defeat! Don't undearestimate the Dark Elf Spearmen!
Tough break for you...in a single turn it all went downhill...fast! Still, you seem to have started on the right foot and I can imagine for a good game . You do learn more from your losses, which in turn lead into more victories (where you will learn less from ). Is your army still expanding? I think a Salamander would do wonders for your army. Good luck in your future battles! The Hunted
Just a minor point, That "Master" in the execution unit. Was he a unit champ? or A Death Hag? or an actual Master. Because the executioners are Khanite, which means only khainite characters can join them. Assassins, and death hag only, and a unit champ, and tullaris.
